    This is why.

This is at my friend's coffee shop in Muzha, Wenshan District (木柵文山區). Black coffee, beans from Sumatra. This is the second half of the process; the first half was laying out the equipment and heating the water to the correct temperature (using the spirit burner and a long glass thermometer).

Pardon the poor white balance and occasional lighting blemishes (slightly over exposed too; this would never pass muster in the photography forum).

Gold! You haven't lost it after all!

Yeah, but it's like anything, 90% of the fun is in the ritual and the anticipation. :)

Isnt the whole over the top thing because people are chasing that elusive goal of making a coffee taste like it smells?

Wait a minute, I didn't just drink kopi luwak did I?

I'm no proper judge of coffee, but it was black, hot, strong, and tasted really good despite having no milk or sugar. Not at all bitter, very clean taste. I may not know coffee, but I know what I like.:lol:

Some very funky old jazz. He has a huge collection of CDs, as well as some LPs. Has an antique turntable, and made his own pre-amps and power amps, complete with vacuum tubes.

Sounds nice :) I can't say I've had a black coffee before, let alone a coffee with no sugar! But I noticed from moving from Sydney to Melbourne, Sydney's coffee always tasted, burnt :(.

Agreed. The music sounds cool, actually this cafe sounds pretty cool in general from your description Fortigurn.

Also, damn at the custom made pre/power amps and tube/valve amps are awesome! especially coz they light up haha. But really mainly because they give a warm/natural sound to the music (im starting to become a bit of an audiophile since upgrading my $150 speaker system to a umm $3k Bowers & Wilkins setup :p, need to get a vinyl player + tube amp asap!).

There is something about coffee and audiophiles that go together :)

    Did someone say audiophile?

Oh dont worry I've already been through your threads haha. You're like, yeah lord of the audiophiles on OCAU :D.

And yeah, they go hand in hand, chilling out, listening to good music having a nice cup of coffee :).

It's just over rating in general.....so many people in my work place just can't operate without it, it's always a central focus and always a crutch excuse when things go wrong :p
