Not sure if this is the right place this, I suppose I'm hoping to draw upon hobbiest experience in craft.

I've got a red iPhone 8 Plus that I've had in the case from day one but has somehow managed to get a massive scratch about 4 centimeters long on the back, glass panel.

Before I try destructive fixes like using soft abrasives, does anyone have any ideas for building the surface back up and matching it to the rest of the surface? I'm not sure what the coating is but perhaps some sort of varnish could work?

Bit of windscreen repair resin would probably do it

Maybe a bit overkill if it's only scratched and not cracked though

I like that idea. I'll hold off until I get a few ideas together and we'll test them out to find the best fix.

If you can't catch a finger nail in the scratch a simple buff might suffice, otherwise resin to fill and a razor blade to scrape back once hardened should get you in a good position.

Not a bad idea, I could have used something like that on my S8 that I got rid of. Had a small gouge out of it that appeared from nowhere.
