While I was out today, grabbed a quick meal.

Some, pappardelle beef ragu, hazelnut tiramisu, and a lemonade. Also I never knew they charged for sparkling water, my surprise when the I was billed $4 for a bottle I didn’t finish ahahah

For some reason my eyes just immediately tracked to the right margin of the last photo and my brain said "Pickled Bears? wtf?"

    That tiramisu looks fucking amazing.
Also, I loved the bar shot in the previous post. I'm trying to quit drinking, but that's just a really cool photo.

Bahahah I heard women were picking bears these days. Somebody had to teach those darn bears a lesson!

    Oh man it was GOOD.

I am so confused right now, you might need to explain this to me once I'm old enough.

Ok, I can understand that. :)

    Got a few good meals out of this idea last week;
a kind of fusion kebab/burrito feat. barbecued chicken kofta, fresh avocado slices, homemade pink pickled onions and marinated mushrooms, yoghurt sauce with chopped fresh herbs and lime juice, in a pan-toasted wrap.

It’s mostly going around the internet these days, women being asked if they were in a forest (or a secluded location) would they rather pick a man or a bear be there, and most women go for the bear cause a man is more scarier when alone.

Oh man kebab and burrito! And you combined them, that looks so good. I need to get into pickling, I enjoy pickled stuff but never dared tried making anything at home.

Cheers mate, I go to the bar with my mates, and have been getting the non alcholic for almost a month now but that changed last weekend and I am back on the booze. Was mostly sober to see if I could do it for a year, back to square one.

Fridge pickles are easy as mate, excellent way to start. You can do many small batches to play around with proportions of acid/salt/sugar/spices and find your own Secret Recipe.
I usually take the time to sterilise the jar/lid/tools in boiling water, which tends to make the product last longer even though it's not properly preserved/canned.

Re. the drinking: just get back on the horse mate, keep trying. Nobody but you is counting how many times you fall off. Just keep moving forward. I'm there with ya.

Had some left over parsley so just decided to make a pesto sauce out of it.

I've been on a bit of a bent of this of late. The great aussie barbeque is a pretty awesome beast, it's just so often that it's not done to the level it could be. Shit sausages, shit salad, thin tough flavourless roundsteak somehow cooked well past well done and yet still lacking any kind of decent sear...

Just making two half decent salads, particularly a killer potato salad, can make all the difference. And a really good, really well done potato salad is a thing of cullinary beauty. Decent sausages, some lamb satays or shishkabobs or something and we're off to the fucking races. If someone's greek mate brings marinated octopus tentacles we might need security guards at the food stations to stop the hungry hordes battling it to the death.

Reasons why this years australia day lamb ad was funny as hell.
