I figured this is a long shot but this beautiful tame bird turned up on our fence yesterday on xmas day. The neighbours don't own him so i'm not sure how far away he is from home. He's very friendly and i'm sure whoever owns him misses him very much.

He has 2 bands on his leg, the first one is a silver one that says HAYASH 037 and bronze one that says PSA11.

Any ideas on how i might identify the owner ?

Well in that case, their diet consists of penuts, premium german beer, and red M&Ms.

Take care of it until the vet opens I guess :)

To clarify BoofyC's words, a German beer may only consist of water, barleys and hops according to the German Beer Purity Law 1487 ("Reinheitsgebot" in German).

I sat down to have dinner and realised I had made a grave mistake.

Under any circumstances, do not feed this bird Red Penut M&Ms...

The consequences will be dire. You have been warned.

Just a suggestion. I would ring the local radio station that the bird has been found, and if the owner can identify the bird and writing on the rings.
Maybe somebody who hears the lost notice can get in touch with the owner to ring radio station for contact number.I would not just hand him over to anyone.Be 100% sure.

pretty bird; hope you can find the owner.

not an expert on what to feed a parrot, but with young ones you can feed them farex.

older ones will eat small budgie seed, water, bit of fruit...even bread. they go for flower nectar...so fruit is good.; probly go for a bit of honey although i never tried that.

Which no German brewer adheres to anymore, else they would not make beer.

Beer has to contain yeast in order to ferment and produce alcohol. In 1487 they did not know about yeast, and the wild yeast present in the brewery started the fermentation. In Germany only Berliner Weisse brewers (of which there is only one now as far as I am aware) use any form of wild fermentation.

The law has been amended several times now to include yeast and "Malted grain" rather than simply barley. This allows the creation of beers containing malted wheat (weizen/weissebier) and malted rye (roggenbier).

The law also allows the addition of chemicals or additives which are derived from any of the ingredients. I.e. hop concentrate, foam stabilisers derived from hops, yeast nutrient created from dead yeast cells, colouring agents such as Sinamar.

The law also allows the use of clarification products such as polyclar (plastic) or silica gel, as they do not end up in the finished beer.

In other words, in modern times it is pretty much a load of marketing BS. And the original intention of the law was to prevent wheat and rye from being used in beer, stopping any price competition with bakers. Nothing to do with actual quality of beer.

Sorry to the OP for dragging this a bit off topic

The bird will probably be micro chipped take it to the vet and have it scanned. If it is chipped you should be able to find the owner.

    I found the owner.

I put an advertisement in the paper and a young girl called up and described him and only lived 2 streets away.

Thus ends the saga of the infamous moustache parakeet.
