At certain times of the year it is. Otherwise not really...picture quality is sub-par if you are used to Fox Sports HD.
They had a Foxtel stand at the shopping centre yesterday with a sign offering sports+movies for $55. Don't know if that's any good for what you are wanting.
I have it for the same reasons (+AFL) I called to cancel and the first offer was $41 per month. I took that, but I am assuming I could have pushed for more.
Rang up two days ago to 'cancel' my service. Got platinum multi room with 2 iq boxes for $93 for 4 months. told me to call up in 4 months and ask for the same deal.
It was my first phone call, and their first offer. I didn't even bother bargaining because I wanted to spend $100 and basically got it (i didn't tell them this, they offered that discount straight away). maybe I should've went for a lower price, haha
Parents currently have Foxtel through Telstra on a single bill with their home phone... have done for at least the last 5 years. Foxtel is base + sports, no IQ. Discount gets them 50 free local calls a month, but it's a 29.95/month plan. Looking at what's going to be the best way to get em an IQ and hopefully a better discount, as they only use the landline for incoming calls these days thanks to capped mobile plans. It seems Telstra don't do recontracting deals (not that I've tried recently) so will probably look at cancelling it, along with the PSTN line (move to Internode Naked ADSL), and signing up again direct through Foxtel, hopefully getting a pre-christmas deal... Thoughts?
"Cancelled" my service. You guys better be right about them calling me back lol! I'm giving them all of this week to call me back, else next Saturday I'll beg for them to take me back haha. Atm, I am paying $61/month for just Basic + Sports in SD and the only thing he offered me during cancellation was free IQ for another $10 per month which I politely declined and he said oh well, I guess that's all I can offer, so we'll send you a letter to put your box in and you can do that in 5-10 business days. BETTER BE RIGHT BOYS ! P.S: Do you guys get billed by Foxtel by Telstra, or purely by Foxtel? Because the cancellation department I went to was Foxtel by Telstra
oh noes! auro - seems like you're getting foxtel through Telstra? the current deal through foxtel is $55 for basic package + 2 x add ons there's also pay as you go foxtel - http://www.foxtel.com.au/shop/get-foxtel/payasyougo/default.htm not sure how that works though
Righto, that explains the no call yet. Will call Foxtel tmrw and see what they can do. If i don't have to pay for installation, i see no reason why I shouldn't move from telstra to foxtel
i just called Foxtel to get my deal renewed. Was 60 a month for everything except movies. So i want the same again. Round 1, they told me we have no deals on offer at the moment. My response no worries, cancel my service. game on....
IQ/IQ2 is where you can record HD are a separate set of ~ 22 channels that broadcast in higher quality than the standard channels ( http://www.foxtel.com.au/discover/products-features/hd/hd-channels/default.htm ) they are usually about ~ $10-15 extra each per month
