has anyone had success in negotiating a discount on just the basic pack plus sports (with HD)?

i currently pay $89 for the Platinum HD package with IQ2, retail on basic plus sports plus HD is around $60 i think

barely worth "downgrading" from the lot to save $30 a month?

Ok, does this work with foxtel by telstra too? Or just foxtel direct?

Thats funny as I asked telstra just 2 nights ago if the iq3 issues have been sorted out and they said yes ....

not that ive seen or heard. pretty sure its just a direct foxtel thing.

having said that its often limited to a certain amount then its all used up.

never hurts to ring and "cancel".... to see how you go. "my friend is paying $89 for plat HD.... *sob story*"

My dad has iq3 and i can confirm its still arse. its just slow and clunky to use.

Sports is thrown in for free which is normally 25$.

Actually there is plenty to watch, That is if your keen on silly repeats and then more repeats.

All Australia knows that foxtel are nothing more than a very over priced service.

Anyways will be trying the ol "i want to disconnect call unless i get a deal" :)

Sorry forgot to mention that my current deal expires in a week and they refuse to renew or do a another dicounted deal.
    : )

yep, outside of live sport and GoT, i really don't find myself watching much Foxtel

certainly nothing i couldn't live without (will consider adding HBO for GoT season), but otherwise i think i'm going to downgrade to just sports

Netflix pretty much covers everything else

    I currently have:
    Ent
    Ent plus
    Sport
    Movies
    HD
I had this for $91/month which is the normal price. I rang foxtel yesterday and negotiated the above for $70/month without too much hassle. So pretty happy with that

I'm on 1TB/month FTTP with Ent for $99/month. Currently have 3 months free Sports HD. I can get rid of Foxtel once F1 gets off their butts and gives me an option to stream online (easily).

So I just rang to try and get a better deal, or cancel if needed.

Turns out that even though I am authorised on the account to make changes, only the person who created the account (ie the wife) can cancel it. Which might explain why I got nowhere. Only offer I got was a IQ3 for $75, they said if I wanted to bundle internet they could offer bundles. Stuff that, I'm happy with my Internode.

Am I correct? Would they not want to play deals with me because in the end I can't carry out the threat of cancelling?

Edit: We have Drama and Sport for retail price, so I really want to get a much better deal. Preferably all channels in HD for around the $90 mark.

They've probably hooked quite a few people now with cheap entry level pricing/discounts/deals/etc.....now to up the prices and recoup some of the lost profits ;)

The current special on offer is mighty tempting.

Free install, free iq3 and a $50 gift card.

We're thinking of going the cancellation route again... Wife and kids hardly watch it thanks to Netflix. I've got Amazon Prime now (for Clarkson & co) and a VPN to give the bird to the government so my needs are just about covered.. Wonder if they'll cut us another deal to stay?
