Its about $2 cheaper to make a case that doesn't have a rear entry PSU .... it used to be the standard but now its all changing

Next issue, can’t connect my internal USB header after installing a 14cm fan on the bottom of the case. Think a 12cm one might be ok but 14cm is what I got. This could partially be avoided if my board had the connector on a right angle on the hand side of the board, silly MSI cause I know their tomahawk board has this yet my unify does not.

Alright think I’m done. Cables were tight but tried my best to make em tidy. Still got some bulge on the side panel, wouldn’t stay put without the screw. Something fractal need to address in future revisions.

so final result, I'm 2c hotter on CPU and GPU temps compared to my old define C however note that was with my side pannel off, if I put the side pannel on those temps would go up 5-7c so all in all I'm better off now.

it's also a sexy looking case, not sure about this dark tint mind you, can barely see anything inside my case except for the RGB glow on my ram sticks, missing out on all my fancy cable work.

had a bit of trouble getting the fans to work how I wanted, the big boys are apparently pwm but in bios when I used pwm they didn't work properly, only once I switched to DC did they start to behave properly.

ram temps also one to monitor, 44c after a single pass of time spy, will see how they go in-game, ram fan might need to make a come back.

the d15 JUST fits and that's with the bottom of the front fan nearly touching the ram and the top nearly touching the glass.

the usb2 header is still disconnected until I get a right angle connector cause the 14cm GPU fans obstruct access to the header on my board (bad placement IMO, tomakaw has one at a right angle next to the sata ports which is much better design.

see below hwinfo screen grabs after a single time spy pass.

fans all running at about 50% during both these runs.

How solid is the case? Does it flex much when you apply pressure to a corner or side?

solid as a rock (and just as heavy thanks to the two glass side pannels)

in-game temps are excellent so far, 50c on the CPU (5800x undervolted to 1.125v all core 4.4) and around 65c on the GPU (3080 Ti undervolted to 800mv at 1700Mhz)

PBO temps went from 84.6c down to 79c in CB23 so fairly convinced that the change to the d15 plus this case has been worth it.

Wow that layout is like peak GPU cooling setup ha.

was pretty much the goal of the build, mission complete.

the only issue is if I ever switch to x3 8-pin connectors, I won't have enough space for cable management

I've uncovered an unexpected issue/concern with the torrent design, my PSU runs noticeably louder now because it is now pulling hot air from within the case to cool itself resulting in the fan spinning up while the PC is idle, I confirmed this by setting my case fans to run at 50% and the PSU fan noise went away.

not sure if it's my specific PSU (a corsair HX850 v1) but it is not something I was expecting nor was it something any reviewer picked up on.

    something to consider.

While the PC is idle, there shouldn't be much heat inside the case though...

What temperature do your mobo sensors report? Also, have you confirmed what your 5800X and 3080Ti package power values are at idle?

I know for example, in my own experience, an overclocked Ryzen can consume as much as 30-40W at idle, and sometimes an RTX 30 series can sit at 110w idle if there's something preventing it from clocking down (there are various reasons).

Anyway these ideally should be down below 20w each. No hating on AMD, but traditionally their desktop CPUs have idled poor idle power states, but even then, 18w at idle should be attainable.

See what Hwinfo says while you're idling.

booting off a cold box the PSU stays quiet, it's when you start doing stuff and after the odd workload I find it's taking a while to cool down and the PSU seems to be taking the worst of it, seems it's not possible to get fresh cool air to every component, I just was not expecting for my PSU to be the problem in this configuration.

CPU Package Power at idle = 24.4w
GPU Power at idle = 28.6w

Compact looks amazing in white. This is a ple build with a 3070 and a 12700KF and Deepcool Castle 240EX.

looks nice but they missed the point of this case by sticking an AIO in the front.

Not sure I understand this. What's the point of the case? Whether a rad sits behind the front fans or not makes no difference to what you can see from the front.

I did a build into the big boy a couple of weeks ago - My old case was having issues with thermally throttling the GPU, i figured 2 big fans supplying it with fresh air would fix the problem and that it did.

Cable management is so much easier when you move to m2. drives only. And yeah i'll most likley regreat wrapping the front IO cables in automotive loom tape but it tidied it up good.

I also discovered my old Antec has a down light in it, works really well to just provide a bit of mood lighting with the dark sides.

    cable management on point

what did you use to wrap the front input cables?
