I thought it was a fairly popular game for its time, it was the showpony on the shiny new Wearns 25/386's at my local pc shop.

Too easy mate... a classic... iconic... and simply awesome.

    COMMANDER KEEN!

Gawd I loved that game. :D

I'll try and think of something a bit tougher for the next one.... :p

uh, no mate, that's Crystal Caves, also by Apogee :)

I'd suggest not using any Apogee games as I'm a massive Apogee fanboy and have played pretty much every one of their games :) (apart from the really early stuff published under Micro FX and Softdisk)

    Well, don't I feel like a dunce.

That's what I get for posting without checking my answer. :)

    Go right ahead DonutKing....

(bugger... I had two awesome ones lined up and ready to go.... :upset: )

EDIT: Just had a look at some C.K. screenshots and I'm amazed I mixed them up.... I don't remember Crystal Caves all that well, my next guess would have been Duke Nukem.

Actually I loved Math Rescue when I was a kid, AND Word Rescue, although I cheated in Math Rescue and disabled all the math problems :p

For some reason the second one reminds me of Alleycat, but I know it's not ... hmmmm.

    *cocks finger, makes shooting motion

Hey, it was better than monochrome. :)

Never doubt yourself, never be ashamed of who you are.... ;)

Correct. Some kind of bonus level IIRC.

Why did you 'know it's not'? What did you think it was? :)

EDIT: Goddamn, you guys are good. I was hoping those two would last a bit longer....

Heh, wow. It looked familiar (and had the cat), but I could only remember alleycat being on top of a fence. My memory is failing me :)

Easy, you didn't know any better. :)

Although at the time I played Alleycat and other CGA games, I must admit I did have an EGA display, so I knew better. But for the time they were great games so it didn't really matter.

Clocked up many hours playing Alleycat and other such games like Sopwith (see below). Fantastic games! Ah the memories....

Heh, yeah, I know what you mean :)

OK, an easy, easy, easy one from me. Spent many an hour playing it on my flatmate's 386/25 when we were at uni:

    Well i did, I was a Commodore user :)

    I had colour AND sound!

It was only until I saw Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle that I knew it was time to get into PC gaming. And what a shock it was then to learn about QEMM , IRQs and all that stuff :)
