    hello there,

The Student Guild at Joondalup ECU is trying to find some PC games that don't require discs to run,

There is a set up of 16 gaming computers iirc, these range from your pentium D right up to Wc'd Hexacores. I'm helping them look for games that can be run on these computers without CDs, and without a cyber cafe license.
(It's free to use the computers so there is no need for a cyberCafe license).

So far we got BF2, COD2 and just installed COD4MW2 - we can't have games that require discs otherwise they all go walkies!

All the games are legit and always registered, don't want any illegal suggestions! Any ideas?
    Cheers!

doesn't it mean that the user needs to buy the game before they play? that's if you don't join the cyber cafe thing that valve has going.

This is the singularly most useful thing a student guild has done in the history of ever.

    Respect.

yes, the cyber cafe thing also costs money,

but the arrangement is that we wont be profitting off the games in any way so we can use standard licenses.

The organisation wants to buy the games and install them onto the computers, mainly for LAN purposes (student recreation). But as said before cant use games with discs otherwise they will very quickly be stolen

We did contemplate steam on all 16 computers, so we can play games like TF2, but managing 16 accounts could be messy

Any Quake game, the patches remove the CD checks.

    +1 for steam accounts
It's not hard to manage at all.
plus you can really ramp up the games included on those accounts when the sales are on and you buy publisher packs
Probably work out a lot cheaper than buying games on disk and installing them etc..

Any digitally distributed games are available without CD's.

Although they'll be tied to accounts. If someone cheats on said account.... you get the picture.

Diablo 2's last patch allowed it to run without CD I think.
