This gave me a good morning chuckle, hahah. I guess my post left too much room for interpretation. I'll fix it for you!

Haha that makes it clear :) I was actually impressed with the effects and clearly Ray Tracing is the future gimmick we will be sold but lets be honest, it will be amazing once it can tear up 4k at 120+ fps =)

I wouldn't call ray tracing a gimmick, it's a tried and true rendering technique that has been used for animating for years.
I honestly think this IS where all games development is going, and my developer friends have all pre-ordered these cards so they can start designing things around this technology.

I'm slowly being converted to wanting one of these so I can experience this stuff, but bottom line is in 2-3 years time, all new engines and titles will be updated to include Ray Tracing engines and systems and games will look more believable than anything we've ever seen.

Real time ray-tracing is the next step to ultra realism on another scale.
Combine this with real time volumetric lighting like higher end engines are starting to improve on and immersion levels are going to go through the roof!

Tazor - I was doing Ray Tracing back on my Amigas when it took in excess of a day to render some scenes! I know its not a gimmick as a tech however currently a gimmick with GPU's.. I did state in the rest of the post that it will be amazing once we can do 4k at good FPS.

I think what nv is quite an achievement. We just need to wait for the tech to settle in. Prices will be high for a while

ITs not nvidias fault our money is worthless. I'm still going to sit this one out for a bit though. Its not like the stuff I have now is useless. If I was rocking a 750ti and had some spare cash a 2070 might be tempting.

I thank nvidia for releasing ray tracing realtime to the consumer video card.

Now the ball is in the court of the game devs to adopt.

In fairness that will take time, money and resources.

This is actually a great video for showing more real time gameplay with RTX on. It doesn't seem to cripple performance too much, but mech warrior looks noice

its a step in the right direction, it will take another gen or two before performance gets to the levels that I would consider using it on online fps games.

Probably waiting to confirm their stock allocation. Who knows though, they're not out for another month so there's heaps of time for them to post em up?

guess ill get a 2080ti cheap as fuck when the 7nm stuff drops in a year or so.

pretty funny watching nvidia compete with itself 2+ years in a row.
AMD really needed to put out a rx 680 based of 7nm vega 56

1080Ti prices are still holding strong. Nvidia still sells their Titan Xp for $1200 on their US store lol.

Pricing isn't confirmed yet. For the time being we will not be selling Founders at all, so have to wait for all the partners to figure everything out here.

all looks very grand but the comment at the end about RTX not being there at launch until MS releases Dx update and only a few games sort of tarnishes the big selling point don't you think....for the price of these things I would want it to wash my car and bring me breakfast :)
at least the miners won't drive it up further....maybe...
