Don't follow Leica anything (though I know they do quality glass) but that guy seemed like a tool. He really wanted to go out of his way to make it seem like absolute shit. I thought it was nice, I'd never get one but if nice "artsy" stills were my thing I'd jump right on it.

It would definitely be easier if you could program the lens while it is connected to a computer, rather than having to take the lens off the camera and attach it to the dock each time...

I never got why you need a USB dock when we have USB cameras. There must be a technical reason why you can't access the lens firmware through the camera, or the body manufactures don't provide access which is probably more likely.

Probably the second option. Particularly for a brand like Sigma who has multiple mounts. They'd need to get every camera manufacturer on board to provide some sort of API to their lens communication bus (which I'm guessing probably isn't USB).

Also think of obscure video camera manufacturers that may use EF, M43 etc. If that's what you use and there's no dock option, screwed.

no reason to build a programmer into every lens, it might put the cost of materials up by 50 cents or so.

I'v love a leica monochrom, and i'm only slightly less likely to buy one instead of an M9. actually ken rockwell doesn't love the colours of the colour one so maybe the mono would be better?

Question, anyone tried any of the non-GoPro action cameras?

I'm wondering whether other action cameras like for example the one from Jaycar: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=QC8020 or the Kogan one or any of the others would be just as good? I'm wondering if you are just paying extra for the name with GoPro?

I'm thinking about getting one to mount on my new 4WD when we go 4WDing... :)

I've only liked Contour, Sony and GoPro, the rest feel and look a little too cheap.

Anyone know about the Samyang 12mm f/2.0?? When will they be available?

Possible a nice wide prime for APCS and M43 systems...

They are pretty cheap, I might order one.
