I have Frsky X7, X9d & X10. All great radios. X7 can be had for just over $100 if you hunt around. If I was starting from scratch, I'd go a Radiomaster TX16S which will cost you `$200 to your door & it'll do anything you can imagine. A few friends have them now & love them. Some people love Spektrum stuff but I've had bad experiences & I'm far from alone. Al
Ended up picking up a Jumper T16. Holy hell what a different beast to the old DX6i. Picked up Bixler 3 Volantex ranger 2000 Eflite glider of some sort Funjet (with mods so it reaches 340-350kph) To go with it. Ive been practicing with the basic realflight sim (4 planes, 1 field). Is it worth spending the extra $100 on the full version? Cheers
depends on what you expect to get out of it. if you're intending to train yourself to fly with it, just fly the Bixler and get the real thing unless it's inconvenient to be able to fly regularly IRL. Funjet will be interesting. would like to try one of these on 6s. https://www.facebook.com/TurbinesRCenglish/posts/337181719782553
Just picked up a hall sensor radiomaster TX16S.. My son will get the jumper T16 now. I went to fly my FMS glider and the wing spar snapped causing a wing to break off and the whole thing is gooooone. I bought a bixler 1.1 to put the electronics into. Waiting for a replacement part before I can fly the bixler 3. In the meantime I bought a 1.1m wingspan hawker hurricane, a 1.1m wingspan vought corsair ($55 second hand.. all electrics in it. Just needs a bit of glue where the fuselage was hit by something. Just a 10cm crack, no big deal) and was given a 3d printer C130 hercules complete with all electronics to fly it. So even with the breakage I've now got 7 planes I can fly. I'll probably get the bixler 1.1 out on sunday afternoon.
Another lockdown ! So more 3D printing .. 30mm 18 blade EDF with a 1106 3800kv 2s .. Purely experimental ! Looks like more work needed on the fan , just needs to grab more air and shove it out the back !
Turns out the motor I had from my FMS glider is the wrong type, mount type and KV for my bixler. D'oh.
Not for $100... better off skipping toy grade and going right to hobby grade, even if you have to buy second hand. At least broken bits can be replaced etc.
