    Re: Hey Guys

Hyper Adam, you have the same car as me, A G.V Models with an OS .12 CV X Max engine in it ?

They are awesome cars, mine is above.

I have only added the tuned exhaust, 2spd and foam bumper are next, and then 4wd later on down the track...

But for now I gotta get my Sleeve and Piston (getting replacememnts)

    Yoda...some advice

Hey man before you 2 speed make sure you have a really good controller not the shitty hi-tec ranger it comes with as mine is now toast, The car hit top speed and went out of range (30m) the car just held it flat up the road all me and my mate could do was watch it go straight into the back of a pizza car at 85 or so k's, The car now looks like a banana, both top and bottom chassis plates are bent about 30 degrees and the engine is into the fuel tank taking out the 2 speed on the way.:(

it's only costing $58 bottom $53 top and 11 for each gear cog
    and 200 for decent controller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Oh car is 2 weeks old)

    Re: Yoda...some advice

Yeah, I know this only too well, I was stingy on my batterys in the reciving unit, they went, it didn't go back to originall settings (normally idiling) Instead, it just opened her right up, I couldn't do anything but watch it prang into the brick wall...

Had to buy a new chasis and my body got pretty dinged up from it, but now its all together again

Yes, I do only have the standard Hi Tech Controller for now, but there is a damn nice pistol grip with a lcd screen at toyworld for $350...

with all these stories of cars running wild and out of control

is there some sort of cut off or kill switch for the car to stop it if you loose control over it ???

Not really no, But the only reason why your car will run crazy is if you do what I did, let your batteries get flat It will also happen if you drive the car out of range, but that is normally pretty hard to do.... The only other reason why it would do this is interfiernce on your radio signal.. I know a few friends of mine who can make my car do all sorts of things with their CB radios, because my crystal is on the 27mhz range (soon changing)

Those are the only reason why your car will run out of controll, It doesn't happen very often at all, and in all cases, it leads back to no-one but you who you can blame...

you can easily fix this by fitting a ESC

I am pretty shure they are the things that If you say go out of range, ore your batteries fail, it will return to idiling speeds ???

    Is that what they do?

Electronic speed controllers work on pulses. It detects how far forwards/backwards/left/right your controller is, and feeds X amount of power to the servos. If it's not receiving a signal, it will go back to 0, ie, no forwards/backwards and no left/right. Mine has a little green light which strobes depending on how much power it's feeding to the servos. It's quite cool to look at :)

an esc has nothing to do with your steering (besides offering a receiver battery eliminator circuit)

with a nitro car like you are speaking of u need to purchase a failsafe cut off device to prevent runaways ...from flat batts and interference etc

such as this thing from towerhobbies

    good luck

Hmm, I don't think you can use an ESC with a nitro car anyway can you? I'm just confused now.

    no you can't

ESC's are only for controling an electric motor...and that's it

This is a fair bit off topic, but I am about to sell a Hi-Tec Flash 5 Computer Transmitter, with receiver, and three working servos. (The Fourth Died) PM/Email If your interested. Has all batteries and chargers, very little use. Originel Packing, Box and all. I used it for R/C planes, until i ordered This
