Need to know if there is any way to download or talk to Optus as I need to get my SMS messages saved from one person, it's about 12 months worth or so.

I have them on my phone now(note 4), but I NEED to keep a record of these just in case I loose my phone or it breaks.

I have used SMS Backup and Restore in the past. Also allows you to backup to Google Drive/Dropbox for restore on another device.

Just used it a couple of weeks ago when moving from a OP3T to a S9+

Used it last week for the first time on a Nexus 7

Can also send as an email which I thought was handy. The free version seems to have all features enabled.

I recommend this. Backups call logs and texts to your connected gmail account.

I'll second that. I use that as well. Very handy and fairly easy to use for most.

Personally I just use this. Works very well for all the backups I need.
