I thought I'd have a play with this new tech Lucid Universal MVP

    The platform I'm using.

    Gigabyte G.1.Sniper 3 Z77
Intel 2600k (Intel HD Graphics 3000)
    Kingston HyperX 2250C9
    MSI Lightning HD7970
    Corsair AX1200

All the runs are at stock CPU and GPU clocks....
Tessellation is OFF....but you get the idea.
I found MVP very easy to setup, also easy to turn on and off.... just a push of a button.
You will need to install the Intel video drivers (aswell as ATI/NVIDIA) and enable the intel GPU in BIOS

From what I can see with this quick test, is the boost for gamers.... I haven't done any gaming tests so not sure about any stuttering... but for lower end GPU's this will open things up very nicely..

    MVP ON, TESS OFF

and this is just crazzy...I couldn't help my self a small Overclock on both CPU, GPU and Intel HD 3000....:D

HyperFormance is nothing more than a stupid driver cheat.

It does not render the extra frames, it just makes the GPU say it has.

Or to be more correct, it tells the GPU to render nothing and to display the previous frame, the GPU then says it has completed that "frame" back to the game and driver.

http://www.hardware.fr/articles/858-3/hyperformance-virtual-v-sync.html <- in French but has all the details.

I would be personally quite interested if there was the ability to do eyefinity type stuff (no mobo maker I have seen has come out with 3xDP as such) as I think the intelligent frame dropping could make a world of difference. Single screen.... I think meh. Nice review though and the numbers do certainly look tasty if a little false.

what is does is makes the frame render more efficient by telling to GPU not to render repetitive frames. FPS is not meant to be a specific performance indication but a guide how much the efficiency has improved in 3D rendering process essentially!

And in realworld tests it seems to see only have noticeable effect when you are at too low FPS anyway (i.e. <30-40FPS).

It has an opposite effect in TES:V Skyrim, I lose like 30% FPS with Hyperformance activated.. Few actual games actually benefit from MVP, 90% of the games performs the same or worse.

is the game listed as supported with Lucid yet? Did you check whether the .exe file is being pointed to correctly in the settings?

It's not in their listed games that it supports, so I manually added it to the list.

Yet their official demostration uses Skyrim as an example.. hmmm

Interesting, they seem to use it to compare iGPU vs discrete but HyperFormance the have 3DMark11 going. I'm guessing Skyrm isn't fully supported for HyperFormance yet.

    Gday Sniper.

You got any feedback on the sound quality?

Are you able to compare to an Xfi Fatality?

    cheers Bob

i can tell you from my experience in testing some headphones via amplified jacks that it's night and day difference in sound compared to X58A-UD7 i have here on my main PC. The Sniper3 bass was much richer and louder, sound clarity was exceptional even at max volume (but a bit too loud for my old far ears). I tested using Steelseries gaming headset and also Sennheiser HD555 headset I bought a long time ago
