Go on, be honest, you use Moccona jars for loads of stuff too, don't you?

I try to keep jars but mrs reckon it promotes hoarding so jars and content occasionally go as well.

She hates clutter

 

Moccona jars are the best for kitchen storage. Everything goes in them at home, and the miniature jars are great for keeping a day or two's worth of ground real coffee in too.
Airtight, easy to clean, and come free with the coffee.

If I'm not having a brewed coffee, I will only drink the "Espresso" style Moccona though - the one rated 10 on the strength scale. The others are not much better than other instants, like Blend 43.



They also work well as wedding table centre pieces

 

BLASPHEMY! More than a few minutes between grinding and using is unCAFFEINATED!

Interesting. I find all but Indulgence & Ristretto (12 on the scale) to taste either bland or soapy like 43/IR.

 

I know, I know. But, I don't have the time to spend 20 minutes making a coffee and cleaning up each time I want one.
So I'll prepare a bit in advance.

 

I highly recommend the Tim Wendelboe AeroPress technique. Takes me less than about five minutes to make a very nice, IMO, coffee, including the boiling of the kettle.

 

Big fan of Moccona too. And yep International roast sucks. Not as much as Pablo dies though.
I'll take instant over barista most of the time, at least it's consistent. Barista is pretty hit and miss, depending on where you go. They all have their signature flavours of course. I quite like a sweet Turkish, I'm not keen on the more bitter Arabic blends.

As to the Moccona jars.. nah I throw them away. I do however have a 6' shelf long shelf in the shed, with a bunch of Bega peanut butter lids screwed to its underside. I can see the contents of each individual jar (labels removed of course) and I simply unscrew the jar from its fixed lid as needed, and screw it back into its lid when done with it.

Probably. I mean, they're pretty much airtight and if you keep them in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, it's probably fine, but technically it should be opaque, airtight and stored in a cool dry area.

 

I keep an Aeropress at work because the only alternative is instant AND I'LL BE GOD DAMNED IF I'M EMPLOYED AS A SOFTWARE DEV AND DRINKING INSTANT COFFEE. Tim's technique there is pretty much the same as my own.
I highly recommend getting a USB-rechargeable grinder since I can take the whole setup camping. Nothing like being 500km out of phone reception, waking up on the beach, going for a surf, and following it up with freshly-ground 5 Senses beans.

 

Cool. I got a hand-grinder 'cause I wanted the burrs to be really high quality and couldn't afford something of comparable burr-quality that was powered, plug or otherwise.
