When are kittens supposed to stop growing? This cat I adopted keeps growing, he's getting huge. He's going to be like a zoo animal if he keeps this up. He was so little when I got him and now he's like gigantor.

I've read about this for a while when I was 'researching' about kittens. It seems that it's kind of accepted that they finish most of their growing by 12-16 months old. It's not unusual, however, for some of them to keep growing at a much reduced pace until about 5 years old (depending on breed etc.).

Mmm there are some pretty big house cats out there, in the 5-10kg range easy. The possible variation within the wider species is huge.

Is he a Bengal? Or, perhaps, a Main Coon?

Viggo was about 8kg at his peak (all muscle), and even at 15 years old, he's about 5.5kg.

Both mine are between 6 & 7. It depends on the breed but usually by a year and a bit they're normally full size

No, he's just a tabby (as far as I know). He's got spots, but I doubt he's a bengal or got any in him. My other cat's a Maine Coon. He's probably not that big, it just seems that he's growing like the beanstalk in the story. My other new cat was/is also young, but she didn't grow so obviously and she still seems quite small.
I posted his picture when I first got him Got a cat? Post it here!, but you can't really judge size in that because he was little then but looks big in the photo. I'll have to try to get some more photos, but he's a livewire, he doesn't sit still for portraits.

Bella the wonder cat, doesn't throw up, eats almost anything, likes being brushed and a spritely 15 years. Can't find Barney Sleeping somewhere

Not sure how to say this without potentially sounding like a tool. But here it is: I don't like the concept of expensive, designer bred pets, when most cities have shelters full of, quite frankly, equally awesome animals which are essentially on death row. Maybe I'm wrong to feel that way.

Nothing wrong with having that view point. It’s one that’s expressed fairly often.
I’m just excited for having adopted this particular dude so I shared his photo.

Here's my little weirdo suckling on himself..... His little cat hands are kneading away. I'm hoping he'll grow out of it, but I don't know. He's just on 12 months old now. bertie_014.JPG
