Beaut looking pup. Im sure its the breed standard and what they're suppose to look like, but I(personal, uneducated opinion) dont like how low the back is/how far the back legs go. Looks like someones got an invisible cinder block on the guys back haha

I know what you mean, the way they move also looks terrible. If it was any other breed I'd say it has major hip problems but GSDs are just built weird I guess. They all have that look as if their rear legs are two far back.

They have been line breed for that ridiculous gait (edit: and do suffer from a disproportionately high incidence of hip dysplasia amongst other things).
The Police who maintain their own lines, and some 'renegade' (read: 'responsible' IMO) breeders, produce GSDs that walk properly.

Edit: There is a wonderful upright example regularly at the dog-park we go to that just highlights the freakish nature of most of the rest who attend.
We have similar issues with people misidentifying our Staffordshire Bull Terrier because he is not a keg on stumpy legs with a massive head and bug eyes.

GSD's never used to look like that. IMO it's just getting worse. I Knew GSD breeders in the 80's that were trying to discourage it.

After 5 months of training, my american mastiff english staffie cross is turning into a loyal awesome friend.

The day i got her home...the grass was taller than her. Just 1.8kg, only 2 in the litter, her brother was alot bigger.

Now 7 months old, just under 20kg she is close to fully grown. You can see the stitches from her claw removal...they kept getting caught on things. There was no bone supporting the claw and kept tearing the skin so i had them removed.

    Lovely dog.

But on a 'point of order', there is no such thing as an 'English Staffy', it is a 'Staffordshire Bull Terrier'.
I figure you should know what half your dog is. ;)

She looks a very nice mix.

    xD

Opposed to an american staffy...of which there are alot in kalgoorlie so i always differentiate. The english staffies have a very different way of playing with other dogs i find, at least the ones which go to my local dog park anyways.

You can easily differentiate by using their proper names:
    • Staffordshire Bull Terrier
    • American Staffordshire Terrier
    Why perpetuate an erroneous term?

They are two distinct breeds which apart from naming are very hard to confuse. The American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaf) is almost twice the height of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and used to be subjected to ear cropping which is now illegal.

When I was researching Staffordshire Bull Terriers in 2000 there were references to English Staffordshire Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Bull Terriers, differentiating on the characteristics preferred by breeders in each country. Basically the same standard, but breeders in the US preferred longer legged dogs with bigger chests (if memory serves).

As a Staffordshire Bull Terrier owner I am sick of most dog attacks being attributed to "Staffies", only to see a photo of an Amstaf, Pit Bull or some cross.

    Really? Like honestly?

Because when people ask me what she is I say english staffie, and that is the approprite way of addressing her breed. Everyone understands and they can diferentiate between an american staffie and english.

Staffies.. English are half the size of the American.. but they are referred to staffies.

I have two SBT's. I understand the confusion in some people.
Why not educate them instead of making up a new name? Call a spade a spade.
