I have a gpu in mb pcie slot 0, and want to connect another gpu to slot 2 via a 20cm thermaltake pcie riser so i can separate the gpus for better cooling (gtx 1080's). The old coolermaster tower i have has 7 (i think) pcie slots so there is room to mount the gpu horizontally (orthogonal to mb) below the mb. Has anyone done this? I think i can figure out how to make a bracket for the rear of the gpu (rear as in where the video ports are), but how to support the other end of the card or the base of the card?
Thanks, i saw that thread whe he was after a vertical mount (im after horizontal) but re-read it and found this which may work https://www.mountainmods.com/product_info.php?products_id=754&osCsid=vpdehu3qoi7lch9k4t15pvgi56
https://www.mountainmods.com/product_info.php?products_id=754&osCsid=vpdehu3qoi7lch9k4t15pvgi56 Isnt that just a vertical mount being used horizontal? Struggling to get a picture in my head.... but you just wanna space them further apart and you run outa card slots yer? Edit: If thats what your after just drill one off the back of an old case, cut it down to 2 slots a make a hole in your case and drill / pop rivet.
I ended up making a horizontal bracket out an old hd mount and aluminium angle. It sits below the mb so will have good separation between gpu's. http://imgur.com/fkaSovd
sorry to HiJack this thread guys im in a similar boat to the OT.. I wanna do a vert mount in my Corsair 570x .. is that Coolermaster bracket pretty much the best , easiest option ? cheers Daz
oh Yeah Lads , this is the stuff dreams are made of .. will be getting 1 of these .. soo nice .. many thanks guys
mnpctech - yeah great but jeez $$$ eh. Plus there seem to be at least 4 different designs and not clear what each does/accomplishes. I have a question though about the riser cables which would be required to connect to the mobo. How to ensure that a decent cable is purchased that won't be lossy for card performance.
