I've never seen someone play GTA on PC with a controller. It makes sense a bit for driving but shooting would be awful.

Even if you bought it on Steam you still need to use the Rockstar Social Club (required for installation) ... plus "periodic entitlement and verification" ... plus "authentication software that recognizes certain hardware attributes for entitlement, digital rights management". Screw that. $90 and 65Gb and draconian DRM, really, screw that.

Weird, fair enough I guess but controlling your weapon would be a nightmare IMO.

Not ideal for shooting but when in 3rd person I can handle it. If I like the First Person camera I'll probably swich between controls.

    For a year old game.

I agree with the sentiment found on some sites I frequent to not pre-order games this year.

Yep. I'm following it. No pre orders from me this year. Hopefully enough people do it so devs can see a difference.

so long as GTA Online is free and not a paid service for an additional fee that might get me into GTA Online to try.

$37AUD from steam.. but, i had to be very sneaky about it all.. multiple accounts and multiple trades.. so yeah.. not advisable as steam could still ban my accounts..

I don't see the point of pre-ordering. The GTA series has a pretty shakey history on the PC, so I think it's better to wait and read all the impressions post release

If you can pick it up before release for under $50 ... great, but I wouldnt want to pay any more than that. I picked up both the 360 and PS4 versions under $50, so obviously I'm in no hurry to buy it a third time...but I may pick it up when its under $20. The GTA series tend to fall in price fairly quickly on steam, so may not have to wait too long

If its a crap port though, I may just give it a miss completely.

Aside from IV what others were bad?

I bought 3, VC, SA on release and they were perfect.

Its already been discussed a couple of pages ago about SA having no native controller support. Like it or not, using a controller is still the most popular way to play GTA (even on PC)

So the last 2 major GTA releases (not counting the eps of liberty city DLC) have had glaring issues.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy as anyone if they break the trend and release an excellent port...but history is not on their side
