Not sure if everyone else is following the Flickr/Strobist discussions about these V4's but there are a lot of very unkind reviews starting to come out about their reliability. As in, these ones are no more dependable than the V2's were - which in my experience is bloody awful.
What's surprising is the difference from the first few reviews which were really good.

Quality control issues? Sounds like pot luck on whether you get a good set. But I'm not speaking from experience, just what I've read.

thanks for the heads up on these.

This poses what could be a real problem. what happens in a group buy situation where someone gets a faulty unit? do they have to go back through the person who organised the group buy for warranty or direct to the supplier or manufacturer???????????

Yeah I'd seen a few notes about problems. If you can think of any other triggers within the price you guys want I'm sure we can all figure something out?

    Yep, seems to be either
    1. Work fine.
    2. Quality issues but work OK
    3. Components DOA

On Strobist groups seem to be getting a lot of option 3 at the moment.

Maybe after a few batches it will get sorted, I am more inclined to spend more on something that can be relied upon.

Its a shame as they looked so good from early reviews.

This might be a stretch, but we're thinking of getting some triggers from SMDV.

I'd be interested to see what you guys think, I've personally tested most of their products and I was happy.

I don't think you'll be able to do a Cactus group buy anytime soon either guys. Looks like the manufacturer runs GadgetInfinity and will be shipping all retail orders first. And there is a lot of retail orders...

How much should be the real question.

That's really not THAT bad vs PW's.

How do they stack up to PW's though?

That's around the same price bracket as the cybersync's, which are supposed to be damn good.

Any other brand isn't THAT bad vs PW's :p

It still adds up if you need 2 or 3 receivers, and most people around here are hobby photographers, it's pretty hard to justify ~$550+AUD for a set of 3 flash triggers.

Yes you're on the list for 1 Tx and 3 Rx. Just post your location as that's not recorded.

Also, please remove me from the group buy, I've gone and bought alternate triggers.
