I've been playing on and off since launch and a Legendary just seems so far out of reach.

I've started getting my Mains into Ascended gear slowly, trinkets and weapons are done and now starting on Armour.

I just really suck at making gold.

The biggest issue is not spending it, soooo many gold sinks. If you're going to start on ascended armour you really need to be prepared to either gather a lot of T5 basic mats, or farm enough gold to cover your daily ecto refinement at the very least. It's a slog though, my weaver ele is decked out in all berzerzer ascended armour, trinkets and a Bifrost, and I've been making the ecto refinement mats. But the desire to start making more pieces for my warrior or guardian is starting to fade. Doing raids doesn't appeal to me at this stage either, because then I'll be back on the treadmill for legendary armour.

One of the best ways to get gold at the moment is ironically Fractals which require the ascended armor and weapons for Tier 4. Start low and you will eventually get all the materials , weapons and armor. Doing the dailies will get you at least 2 gold a day.

You can craft a legendary through collections but there Mats that are time gated. You can get alts but this may cost money. See if you can get buddies to help you out in crafting the materials.

Having an armorsmith or huntsman up will help you craft some of this give you an advantage to craft at lower costs.

Yeah I have a couple of the precursor collections on the go, but I'm not convinced that they're much cheaper than buying one from the TP in the end, except maybe Dusk.

Good guilds are good for this stuff too, whether it's home instance gathering or just pay it forward sort of stuff. I gave my guild's former leader 100g for icy runestones for his legendary, then about 6 months later he threw me enough T6 mats for a gift of magic and gift of might. Pretty sure I came out well ahead on that one.

Just got into GW2 - level 17 right now went the Necromancer class. hasn't taken long and i feel that i have a reasonable handle on the game. So far its good, kinda like a blend of WOW and elder scrolls online. The big draw card is my mates are playing it which makes it all worth while.

There are alternative paths to getting ascended armour besides crafting. For example PvP and Fractals. I've done 3 characters via PvP (heavy, medium, light) - with that I can pass it around to any of the remaining characters if I need to. Anet have just released a new armour skin in PvP so I'll do it all again. :)

Hmm, I bought this game on release, but never played it - burn out from playing the shit out of the first Guildwars, plus a heavy addiction to TeamFortress 2.

I recall playing it for 5 minutes, and some blueberry mission, and I'm just like - I have no patience to go collect virtual blueberries ... Imma gonna go garden in the real world.

Is this a paid review for the real world?

Hello Everyone. I am an old-school player of GW and have decided to create a Guild Wars 2 guild. It is called Slyda Bomber Posse and I am Spyda Kombo in game. This guild will focus primarily on PvP. I am looking to recruit Australian players who are either in a guild or not. There are guilds out there that use a name thinking it won't be used and that they will be safe from the simulated robots. But there are other choices out there. I use inventtive ideas to name my guild this with a bit of flair. It is definitive. Slyda Bomber Posse. It will rule the GW2 PvP scene. We are going to war soon – Australia is – and the Bomber Posse will be an up ramp to war. We will rule the PvP Scene. This guild is open to anyone who wants to compete in GW2 PvP. It is for Australian Players, but will also consider French, Russian, German and English. If you want to play, and like MMO's. Then join me. And we will rule. Thank you – that is all.

Just finished Astralaria recently too. Very pretty. :)

Still playing almost everyday of varying amounts of time. Sometimes it's log in, do some of the dailies (including at least a round of PvP), log off. So long as I don't grind at it, it's still got enough to keep me interested.

It will be interesting to see what they add to the expansion. There will be an expectation of another elite spec per class. And then there should be something as epic as the gliding and mounts we got with the other expansions.

I think the one thing that's very unlikely to happen is another race, which is a shame, but given the work required for it, not a surprise.

So, anyone excited about the upcoming addition to allow the skimmer to dive underwater and be the first underwater mount? ;)

I'm hoping Steam will give a nice boost to the player base. Particularly AU/NZ. Can get a bit lonely sometimes.
