something VR? this is about all there is atm https://twitter.com/valvesoftware/status/1196566870360387584
Valve delivering more shit that nobody asked for as usual. I expect the sales of this to be appalling.
A game focusing on the rebels before gordon showed up could be a good way for valve to revisit the half-life universe without the risk of the inevitible disappointment of the conclusion of the main half-life saga
This maybe a test to see if the game gets received well, and what improvements they need to make before releasing a HL3 or episode 3 game. They know that they will have to make a perfect HL3/EP3 game as if its not the fans will probably grab their pitchforks and burn down Valve. Or maybe they are just waiting for all us fans to die off so we wont revolt if its a shit game... T1
It's a clear cash grab to sell more valve index. What we really want is HL3 but they didn't wanna spend the $ and risk fucking it up. Hopefully it's a good VR game but it's a niche market, alot of people even with high end gear can't use the things for long before headaches/nausea.
Ah, PC gaming threads. How good are they? First post: "Thing!" Second post: "Fuck those pricks!" Third post: "OMG best evar!" And then a continual flip flop from "best" to "worst" with no moderate/central opinions. Punctuated by inevitable "greedy cash grab" post (because businesses aren't designed to make profit?). As these threads keep making me say: thank Christ you lot aren't my customer base. I couldn't ever imagine such a toxic, emotional or rapidly changing relationship with my customers.
Fourth post: "First!" I'm waiting for the boycott posts to start rolling and perhaps even an online petition... because those 2 things have been so successful in the past. On topic, I'm not really into VR but if anyone could tip me over the edge I reckon it's Valve and if this has been designed with VR in mind it's probably really well done and not just another roller coaster simulator. I'll watch this space.
I am a pretty big fan of VR, have spent quite a lot of time in Skyrim and Fallout 4 VR and it just changes the entire experience. I kind of wish this is the first way i'd played these. Replaying them this way is fun but not as awesome as a fresh experience of this scale could be.
Or in other words People who can afford VR, and people who can't But seriously I'd say most people that dislike it haven't used a Valve Index or Pimax and don't understand how amazing this could be.
Well keep in mind a significant proportion of the "Fuck those pricks!" post later that they've preordered it/their benchmarks/their disappointment at the ending.
being a prequel if that's what it is, it'd be nice to surprise drop a VR version of HL2 at the same time as a bonus.
For me criticism is more a long the lines that Valve seems completely unable to read the market. There are some things they have done very well (Orange Box, DOTA2) but they seem incapable of actually doing something that people really want. They're so flush with cash they have no drive or direction to achieve something, rather just crest along the passive income they get from Steam sales while they kind of flop about working on things. This could be good, but it's being released for an incredibly niche market that it's going to cut out a large portion of interest in addition to touching on an IP that's seen no light of day in some time. Half-life is such a touchy subject that anything but what people want is going receive generous amounts of public ire.
