The second 12tb WD Elements drive arrived, same packaging (or lack thereof) as the first one. Let the testing commence!

Seems as though Amazon are out of stock atm :( need 2 more for my NAS.

What drives are in those 12TB elements boxes?

I bought a bunch of refurb 10TB DC510 drives last year from the states. They were NOT cheap, but worked out to be slightly under 400 bucks a drive and all have been running safe and securely ever since.

Drives arrive this week, YEAH, but they arrives in the standard packaging, no added protection, so I have thrown up a unraid test bench and kicked off preclearing on the frist one, going to do one at a time, lets hope the test come back ok

Just bought a 12Tb off Australian eBay for $480 posted. That's about $30 more than one from the US at the above price with postage and GST added.

I said jumped $80. As in $80 more expensive than they were.
Thankfully it has dropped back down to a more reasonable price - $259.

Any idea if these 4TB drives for $117 would be good in a NAS? They appear to be 7200rpm enterprise drives. Possibly reburbished.

They look to be rebranded HGST drives. Looks like you can only get a qty of one shipped via amazon. Although I'm guessing you could order multiple different orders perhaps.

Amazon US doesn't show you GST until you're on the last step of checkout, like MUTMAN said it would be nearly the same with that factored in.

The 10TB ones I got were all Helium HGST.

    I haven't opened the 12Tb one I got.
