Negative Ghost Rider. The pattern is full.

EFAX are SMR. For that price the 8tb archive Seagate's are way better value

Amazon must be really hard up for transport, I just received notice that my hard drive is coming through DHL Express and from Italy of all places!

Newegg has those 16s cheap. again ....

Prices are actually dropping now, and about time too.
I'd expect now we have volume of the 20s that'll push the existing stock down further in the next two months or so.

Should be some cracking EOFY sales for HDDs in 5 months ..

I want them to move back to a 5 1/4" format, just imagine the areal density of that puppy!

Then I could bring out the Aopen HX08 from storage. :Paranoid:

My wife recently ordered a 2022 diary from Amazon UK. A few days later the diary was actually shipped from Germany via DHL, and actually delivered by DHL in Melbourne (usually AusPost handles it). Surely, the shipping cost must be more than the cost of the diary itself.

    People still use paper diaries?

Or was it maybe a “Diary”?

Sorry mate the joke came off wrong, I had meant to bold "paper" diary but forgot after searching for something with 'buff' men in it. You know, computer forum -> data storage thread and a 'paper' storage device ...

<insert audience heckel> "When does the comedy start?"
<crowd heckel> "At least ours was committed and wasn't just a string of pussy jokes .."
<all together now> "Get on with it!"

I'm in the middle of retrieving over 60TB from Gsuite as the new t&c's i'll be forced into soon aren't great.

To do this I ... (deep breath), had to delete stuff.... Think I need to sit in my quiet place for awhile and then have a nap, been awhile since i've used the rm command- I thought it was there by error.....

Oh no, if you have a backup of it I'm prepared to hold anybody's overflow for a while. No WAN access, only sneakernet via 14TB bundles, just PM me. Viva la r/DataHoarder

Price change update on Seagate 16TB drives - yes I know you must be bored hearing about them by now.

Newegg has their "Free Shipping" offer for them again. $501aud free shipping - https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/seagate-exos-x16-st16000nm001g-16tb/p/1Z4-002P-015K6

    and lastly,

those eBay 16TB EXOS newer model ones can be found here for just $464 including delivery, if you can wait until 31st Jan to the 8th of Feb or
(an extra $10usd to get it by Est. delivery: 25 Jan – 2 Feb) -> https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/275066518232
If you opt for the faster shipping and pay by PayPal it will cost you $501aud.

    as ever, Happy hunting. :)

Edit: aah crap I always forget something. Just take note that while they're the same price and will arrive at the same times, the Newegg ones are the older series - X16 16TB and the eBay ones are X18 16TB. Just thought I should make that clear.

A quick look at the difference between the 16TB EXOS x16 and x18 is that the x18 is using 2tb platters where the x16 is using 1.8tb platters, the specs seem to say the x16 has a lower power usage and benchmarks show the x18 is faster in certain things but it wouldnt be a noticeable increase.

I might grab a few x16s when i can purchase locally...
