Very interested, as I am in the exact same spot.
Heads up guys and girls. On Tuesday the Sennheiser/Massderp HD6XX are dropping. Final price will be $199USD plus shipping. This is an insane deal for these cans!
Keen to see who actually manages to secure a pair.
MD is crap to deal with than they are terrible HPs.
(I want to get a pair, and 5000 will sell out fast...)
I replied to your post but since you deleted it I had to as well.
Might want to add in a budget. Also what phone are you using, some manufacturers only headphone manufacturers only have models for iPhone.
If you are riding a bicycle, wouldn't it limit you to in-ear headphones due to the helmet?
apologies for ninja edit.
Hey Snufkin... how are the DT1770s and DT1990s comparing with the T90s?
Samsung S5. And well yes, that's why hook over ear ones are what I'm looking for, not over head.
LOLLL orders for the HD6XX are now over 9000!
They're EOI, not orders. Almost 12 000 now.
On other drops there are always more EOI than people willing to actually pay, so hopefully it won't be too hard to get a pair.
I imagine they will drop these again in a couple of months, possible with different colour/s anyway so no huge drama if miss out 1st time round.
yeah I know that. Just shows the interest though.
Massderp hasn't been too bad for me. But I'll probably pass on this one.
I like the T90 despite its flaws, but the 1770 and 1990 address some of those flaws.
eg: the DT1770 is definitely smoother in the treble than the T90, but doesn't quite have the same soundstage. The 1990 has the smoothness and soundstage
Was looking at the new Sennheiser HD 599, anyone got a set?
Addicted to Audio has them for $348, the HD 598s are $259 so $89 difference only problem I can see is getting ear pads for either looks like a pain in the ass than again getting pads for my DT880's is a pain in the ass .
Anyone had a look at the E-MU Teak Headphones on Massdrop
Look very similar to Fostex, wonder if they come from them? I have been flirting with the idea of TH900's
Very similar looks and similar specs.
Driver unit: 50 mm neodymium magnet, EMU - bio-cellulose diaphragm
Frequency range: 5 Hz – 45 kHz
Impedance: 25 ohm
Sensitivity:EMU 106 dB Fostex Sensitivity: 94 dB/mW
Maximum input power: 1,800 mW
The EMU add detachable cable, and weigh 112g less (both without cable)
Be interesting to compare FR graphs.
They are in fact modified Fostex cans. There's a thread on Head-Fi about them.
EDIT: 27 pages of it: http://www.head-fi.org/t/781884/e-mu-wooden-series-headphones
Thanks for that....my wallet is crying...
Bio-cellulose in headphone drivers haven't been used in over 2 decades.
Maybe they found some NOS drivers?
Just going on what it says on the MD product page.
