It's a known bug, there's a 20 page thread atm
Been getting the occasional weird team in HL lately. People soft picking heroes and not willing to change roles or heroes. One match today where I was 1st pick we ended up with 3 tanks, murky and valla. Ended horribly. I am now rank 13 and bit annoyed to still get this crap in HL.
Had a bit of gold so splurged out on Johanna, KT and 3 master skins . Not the best with squishies so currently only playing KT in QM's. Cant seem to get the DPS out of him that others are. Probably just need more games to master him. Johanna on the other hand has quickly become my 2nd HL pick for tank if Anub is already taken.
Yeh it's abit odd, i got annoyed at HL, was rank 28 and had a few games in a row where the players just should'nt have been matched.
one exclaimed it was hit first HL game.
I wonder if blizz is match making for speed rather than same player level in offpeak times (Oceania)
Blizzard matchmaking is just terrible.
Rank 1's constantly getting matched with players that have just hit HL, all regions not just OCE.
I got a 5 Assassin team in QM soloq the other night. Was heaps of fun and we dominated a normalish composition team but shouldn't ever happen.
I've had multiple QM games where we haven't had a Warrior and the opposing team has had 3-4 that weren't together in a party. It's just all round fucked up and needs major work. They've admitted there is major issues with overestimating fresh HL players (guessing MMR spikes) and that it's on the fix list.
I'm not bothering with HL until the official season starts but I'm Diamond MMR in QM (HOTSLogs) and get matched regularly with people on fresh accounts. Not much of an issue since it's QM but it can still be frustrating.
Are the frame dips/stutters still happening with this game? I recall a 20-30 page thread on the blizzard forums with people complaining about it in the beta
It's related to the netcode. I was having issues a few months back but don't anymore unless something else is hammering my connection.
I still find I get better value out of HL than QM. HL somebody at least has to be lvl 30 and have the required hero amount which means that they would have to have some familiarity with the game. The new players can't get in here so you don't have to worry about being paired with them. The added bonus of HL is being need to think about their character choices too. You should play it even if it's the pre-season just because you're likely to get a better quality of match that is more thought out.
I often find myself filling gaps as support in HL or going some sort of specialist when I can. Sadly I can't keep the unstoppable momentum with Zagara in HL that I can in QM. I guess that comes down to player savviness which is why you rarely if ever see Nova in HL.
Absolutely, plus you avoid people learning free characters (not a bad thing) which should keep game quality at a higher level. My group of friends that play around my skill level is incredibly small (1 regular) and he's not interested in Hero League - not a fan of solo'ing and while it's not official season and there's matchmaking issues I'm really not too fussed about getting involved and possibly tanking my MMR.
Support in HOTS is the bees knees, perhaps even too strong sometimes. I used to fill as support in LoL because people that didn't want to do it generally blew at zoning and warding. Not a fan of Brightwing's playstyle but Uther/Rehgar/Malfurion (and the half-supports Tyrande and Tassadar) get regular play from me. Be interesting to see the changes on PTR come live with Malfurion getting buffs all round (including cleanse) and Rehgar getting a few changes (including Cleanse, although it's on the same tier as Earth Shield).
Oh, yeah, and incase anyone missed it:
Added in a Level 9 payout and reduced the 15/20 rewards.
Wow! I am going to get lots of gold!
Urgh I keep forgetting the MM is fucked and try to do it on my own. Only got two games in last night but we got rolled in both cases. Checked HOTSlog afterwards. First game four of my team had recorded less than 20 games each. Second game was similar but one of the four players had 100+ games.
I'm no superstar player with supposedly platinum level with 500+ games or so according to HOTSlog but getting given the above just puts me in a bad mood. I don't mind losing when it's a fair fight, I hate losing when I get given impossible odds from the get-go.
Yes I know HOTSlog isn't 100% accurate but it still shows all my team yesterday weren't a match for who I should be playing with.
EDIT: Holy shit Kael + Zeratul vs Vikings is just a massacre. Kael can drop all 3 vikings to 1/4 health and Zeratul can just pick them off afterwards as I found out being on the receiving end.
Account closed due to hacking apparently; lots of reports of false positives including pro players and commentators being banned.
Have submitted a ticket and will hopefully get it sorted.
Anyone else suffer the same fate?
No luckily... I don't know what I would do if they closed my account due to suspected hacking/botting... I don't do that shit, and Blizzards rule on false positives is usually pretty strict... If they close your account they're certain you were violating the TOS.
Haven't been on in a bit but I'll check my account tonight. Trying to take some time away from HoTS to play the things I've been neglecting.
Reports coming in now that they've got teams working on each case because of a high number of false-positive appeals (including some high tier competitive players and NA commentators like Shane Goocher who are understandably furious).
Would be great if they did that before the wave.
One theory on Reddit was bans came down for people who are friends with and played with people who used the map hacks... So not using the map exploit directly but still gaining benefit from it.
Permanently banning by association is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. I only QM and only play regularly with a couple of friends who I'm confident don't cheat regardless.
I run 32bit client on 64bit OS and that's apparently a regular thing popping up. Also use Hotslogs Auto-uploader but that's apparently been cleared as it has no interaction with the game, only the replays folder.
GF and I both got banned today for reasons unknown. We've both appealed as we never touched the maphack, or exploited, afked, abused anyone etc. I bought her the Starter Pack last week for her birthday so I certainly wouldn't turn around and go "okay, now that we've invested money into the game it's time to start hacking and risk our accounts". It's very frustrating and I honestly think Blizzard has screwed the pooch to a certain extent. Good on them if they got a lot of the map hackers, but something seems to have gone very amiss.
Both of us have played about 95% AI games, need them mad hackz to steamroll the AI 1 minute quicker.. =/ Neither of us use the HOTSlogs auto uploader.
I could potentially have people on my friends list who use it, but I don't think I've grouped with them yet.
I think I just read a reply of yours on reddit.
What's funnier is seeing the throwaways, whether they're legit or not, claiming they maphack regularly on main/alt accounts and aren't banned.
I just hope Blizzard don't try and sweep it under the rug in an effort to avoid embarrassment; I'd usually be skeptical but being a victim myself there's clearly something flagging Warden or their systems incorrectly.
I won't be making an alt account if it's not rectified but I hold out hope that it will be righted for everyone. My Battle.net account has a Day 1 Vanilla WoW Collectors and CE/DD for most other titles. HotS alone I've spent about $150 on had some pretty unique stuff like the Blizzcon 2014 mount etc.
It's frightening to think on these games, you can spend money but it's in their T&Cs that they can just ban you for no reason. I'm only down about $40 but we were both going to buy a skin each for our favourite characters this week. Even if I do get unbanned I'm be thinking twice about that and any further stuff.
