HFC on Telstra - networking question

    I wasn't talking about using a different router than the Telstra Smartmodem, I was talking about disconnecting the NTD and just using the 4G connection in the smartmodem for a fixed phone line, if you do that for more than about 48 hours the SMS's start.

    If you didn't use the smartmodem at all then Telstra couldn't care less, but you will lose your fixed phone line as well.

    Symon is correct, I have two colleagues who have done just that and they get the nag SMSs as well. Telstra don't want you using the 4G connection for extended periods, it's supposed to be there for failover only.
