"The embedded poem reads: "Your karma check for today: There once was a user that whined/his existing OS was so blind/he'd do better to pirate/an OS that ran great/but found his hardware declined./Please don't steal Mac OS!/Really, that's way uncool./(C) Apple Computer, Inc.""

Apple also put in a separate hidden message, "Don't Steal Mac OS X.kext," in the kernel extensions folder.

    Ahhh <3. I love it.

i don't get it why people think apple are justified in dictating how i can and can't use software i have legally purchased.

if i legally buy osx then why should apple be able to tell me what hardware i can and can't run it on?
it would be like the riaa saying that i can only listen to my cd's on a cd player and not an ipod or a games company saying i could only play their game if i'm running windows and not wine.

in what other industry can a producer dictate to a consumer how they can and cannot use a product after they've sold it?

There was talk of looking at it but no changes were ever put in place.

stratos - no changes are YET put in place. governmental entities move pretty slowly remember ;)

they are up to reporting, if you noticed the front page..
    http://www.aph.gov.au/house/committee/laca/protection/report.htm

the A-G has already clearly indicated hes not interested in prosecuting people for ripping cds they own for use on their ipods. if you rip and distribute though, now thats another matter entirely :)

‘We should not treat everyday Australians who want to use technology to enjoy copyright material they have obtained legally as infringers where this does not cause harm to our copyright industries’ (adelaide advertiser, 28 dec 2005 p2)

so, no, only the music companies care :)
