The awesome people at Micron sent over a big box of goodies to give away! There's 16GB DDR4 kits, 240GB SSDs and a pile of t-shirts and USB lights/fans.

Given it's the holidays we're going to make things pretty easy. Just post in this thread telling me what geeky things you're hoping to get up to over the holidays. We'll run the contest until the 10th of January and I'll pick my favourites to win a prize. So, doing something to grab my eye would probably be good - photo, video, amusing anecdote, express yourself via haiku..

    [IMG] [IMG]

Good luck! And have a great holiday. :)

    WINNERS ANNOUNCED HERE: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?p=17043814#post17043814

I'll be putting together an old dual quad core xeon as a hackintosh, for something to do, oh and flying my newly build Mig 3 RC plane.

May even vacuum my rug too :D

There is a joke in there somewhere about turning my rug into polished floorboards (but i'd leave that joke for my girl) ...... ;)

Hoping to get ahead and produce a lot of youtube videos over the break so I can drip them out on a more regular schedule.

Kind of boring, but plenty of geeky rendering/editing stuff to be going on... more ram would help a lot with that

Here are some cheesy puns to get you through the holidays...

Did you hear about the explosion at the cheese factory?

    There was de brie everywhere!

How did Mr Cheese paint his wife?

    He Double Gloucester.

A kid threw a lump of cheddar at me

I thought ‘That’s not very mature’.

    Why was the cheesemonger lopsided?

Because they only had one Stilton.

What did the cheese say when it looked in the mirror?

    Halloumi!

I have an addiction to cheddar cheese

    It's only mild though.

What do you call a cheese factory in the Middle East?

    Cheeses of Nazareth.

Which cheese would you use to coax a bear down from a tree?

    Camembert!

What do you call cheese that isn't yours?

    Nacho cheese!

What kind of cheese do you use to disguise a small horse?

    Mascarpone.

Which is the most religious cheese?

    Swiss… it’s holy.

How do you handle dangerous cheese?

    Caerphilly.

My business making clothes out of cheese has gone bust

    Turns out that fromage frays.

Why didn’t the cheese want to get sliced?

    It had grater plans.

What did the queen say when someone threw cheese at her?

    “How dairy!"

Hopefully get the parts needed to upgrade my steam-cache :)
currently using a an intel and external hdd for the cache, I want to get something a bit better because I need more iops.
The whole point of the steam cache for me is because theres 4 gamers living in this house and our internet is 9mbit at best... so downloading from steam 4x isnt really viable :)

We've got our 3D printer at work going full-swing. We bought it off of KickStarter when it was called the "Rigid Bot."

I've got left over motors and flight controllers from my previous multi-rotor builds and I'm going to be printing this frame off:
    www.thingiverse.com/thing:160607

I'm modifying the 3D model slightly to fit larger motors than the frame was initially designed for. Once it's flying, I'll be attaching a camera and transmitter to feed the video footage into my Fatshark FPV goggles. It's awesome fun! I'd suggest you read up on this project if you're interested:

I'm just hoping to build a beer fermentation temperature controller with a Ardiuno and a Raspberry Pi; using a couple of temp probes (Wort/Beer & Fridge Air temp)... should be interesting at least!

So I was given one of these the other day which had died, figured if I can't bring it back to life then it will make a cool HDD caddy.

    Imagine this, if you will.
A small group of over 55's sitting around the dinning room table playing old school games.
    How old school?
Think Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad, Motocross Madness etc.
As if that wasn't enough, I still have null modems, gender benders, cabling and everything needed to play F1GP. The original, F1GP, with 2 pc's(486's, CRT's) and four players taking turns.
There will also be pizza, mountain dew and whiskey.

    Geeky enough?
