Hey guys, I need to give my home address to someone, but I don't trust them.

I have some elderly people I live with and I really do not want this someone to be calling our home phone as it'll upset the elderly people.

Is it possible for me to give my home address out without them knowing my home phone number?

I didn't want to create a thread about this but it's a serious issue for me.

    Thanks so much!

Then don't give them your address: find some other way to do what has to be done, or don't give them your home address.
If you don't trust them, don't give them your address. I have a PO box for a reason, and if you're selling a car on Carsales there are other ways of dealing with it. (Meet them at a cop-shop carpark for example: it's becoming more common for the police to even have an area set-aside, believe it or not!)

Grey pages, reverse phone books and the like are a thing, so your wariness is appropriate.

Your reply is much appreciated, but I don't have access to a PO box or anything like that.

I must give my home address.

Is it possible for someone to discover my home phone number if they know my home address?

the white pages and forward phone books are of more concern.

OP if they know your name, address and you are listed as living there and the phone number is listed it is pretty simple to look this up.

this might be helpful to you https://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/parcel-collection-delivery/parcel-collect

what are you trying to do?

I'd say so, if you have an ABN they can find out your postcode pretty easily too.

    try for yourself

    Thanks!

I'm trying that now, but it doesn't let me look at all the names. I can only see the first 50 or so names.

Anyway, it's more valuable for someone to know my full name than just my address right?

If they know my full name they can easily find my address right?

EDIT: the picture above is a guy shrugging, to put it into words I don't know if it is more valuable for someone to know your full name than just your address, I suppose it depends on whether they want to know who you are or where you are.

If there was someone I didn't trust I wouldn't be telling them my name, phone number or address.

It means 'how long is a piece of string'?

When we don't know the scope or boundaries that limit that string - string theory.......not.

If they know your full name and your address, you would be surprised how many companies use that as your "verification" when you call them (something else to consider)

It means you're asking vague questions. Like all your other threads, why don't you help us help you and describe exactly what the situation is in case someone can think of a solution you cannot.

    Thanks for the replies!

If I pay Telstra to have a "silent" number will this make a big difference in keeping my privacy?

Is there another way for me to find out someone's phone number from their address?
