    Hi all,

My nbn connection recently switched to mobile data and after a bit.of diagnostics I realised the fibre cable that plugs into the modem is broken.

I am pretty sure a mouse has gotten to it.

I have only worked with ethernet cables in the past, so fibre is new to be.

What connector and tools do I need to buy to get this going again?

    Here is a photo.

    Thanks

you report it your ISP and they will get NBN to fix it.

What Caspian said. That side of the NBN boxen is the responsibility of the telco / nbn and it's a really bad idea to mess with it (fibre is fun to terminate, you generally need expensive tools and expertise to deal with it).

It's inside the house so thought it would be my problem to fix, would there be a charge to fix it?

If they didn't make such a big hole a mouse wouldn't have got through.

Had a look through ebay and you can get cheap termination tools.

Is this another one of those threads where the answer to your question is in the first two posts then you avoid the advice and do your own thing anyway?

Please reconsider, as my head might explode.

Don't attempt to fix it yourself, it's not your property.
Report it to NBN via your ISP. They will come out in a day or so usually.

    Fuck these sensible folk.

    What you need is:
    700ml Jim Beam
    Roll of duct tape
    A steady hand

    Method:
Drink the Beam to remove autonomic trembles that may naturally be present. Carefully align the broken fibre to the terminal and tape into place. Be careful as you will need to be micrometre accurate or it may not work.

Or you know, lodge a fault with the NBN if you are a coward and want to wait a whole few days for them to fix it, while you regret your ineptitude

Once the cable is fixed Use some expanding foam or clear sealent to fill the hole
