    Hi All,

Returning to gaming after a good 7+ years removed. How do most people source their games these days? Steam? I assume there are exclusive titles that Steam doesn't have?

    Cheers,
    Adam

But seriously yes Steam is still going strong however there are many more digital platforms these days (Origin, Epic Store, GoG, UPlay, Battle.net etc).

Some people source from key sites such as Green man gaming which can be activated on any of the above platforms depending on the developer.

Sadly the price disparity between countries for digital content is even worse now. I often order the physical media for new games from amazon au because it's cheaper than steam... or get it from a key site.

Yeah yeah I realise it's the weak link in my setup. I actually bought it to run in my 775 setup before I commited to upgrading the CPU/mobo/ram. When budget allows I'll upgrade that next.

I only use Steam. For the last 15 years, I've only ever used Steam.

For PC gaming GoG is my number one go to. I'll only ever bother with other services of I'm desperate for the game and GoG doesn't have it.

Digital only using various distribution... Steam, Origin, Uplay, Epic and recently Rockstar, a lot better than having a shitload of game boxes that get binned every few years and I don't resell games.

Have you noticed how much memorabilia/toys/clothes E.B sells now? There's like a 30cm section of racking for PC games in the corner. I think even they have realised it's consoles and other misc stuff where the money is. Not actually selling games

I haven't bought that many games in last 3yrs.
I manged go get free games (10+ so far) from Epic giveaways.
You can check free games thread in this forum for free stuff

You get quite a lot of giveaways these days so you can pickup some good, quality games for free relatively easily.

If you need to play the latest games (and you have the hardware to support it) then you can get it from steam/origin/epic/online CD key sellers/etc...

Subscriptions becoming something you should consider too.

It's pretty clear the episodic nature of games and staggered release of content that was the actual initial game (AKA bullshit of late) is pushing us to consider that paying per month might be better value.

Noting that it's still got one main issue like netflix, Amazon ect, multiple subs are required if your content isn't in one place. Likely it never will.

Personally I now never per-order and just wait for it to be publicly beta tested by the kids, buy it on sale and then give up it after 2 weeks because I'm getting too old for this mediocre bullshit they release these days.
