I just had Red Rooster for lunch for the first time in... Well, i dont know. A long time.

It is pretty ordinary and the "crispy strip" wasnt even actual chicken, but it cost as much as any other FF joint or lunch joint?

The only thing I ever ate from Red Rooster was their chicken roll.

I guess he means it wasn't an actual fillet, but it was processed like an inghams patty or something (which is how redrooster roll with most of their items).

I have often wondered this. Middle of lunchtime and all I can see moving around inside is fucking tumbleweed.

Their cheesy nuggets are still the best nuggets out of all the fast food joints. Maccas comes in 2nd.

Yeah, exactly this. I know Subway still insist on serving processed bullshit as "chicken" but in 2017 its pretty hard to get away with it unless youre serving it from the back of a stadium in a concession stand or something.

What do you mean? Most nugget-type snacks are processed meat. Cooked chickens aren't even "just chicken", if you read the labels, they are steeped in all sorts of crap.

EDIT: to answer your question, like most franchises there are good ones and bad ones. the food from the good ones is quite nice, and it's fowl (geddit?) from the bad ones.

Ugh god no, we bought some and the only reason I finished them is because I had to spend $5 for the box. Never again.

How does Red Rooster still exist?

    One word: CHIPS

They do really nice tasting chips - whatever special salt they put on 'em.

I used to like their rolls etc but they are now worse than ever, always soggy etc.

But I hate KFC too. That place just serves hot grease.

They do a new one with spicy coleslaw, that one's nice.

It really does depend on the particular store, there's a KFC at the shopping centre that was absolutely lovely, hot, crisp really really nice. I've bought some from there a few times when I've been over that way. The other shops are usually pretty awful. Everything soggy.

Indeed. I like the processed stuff, the consistency in texture and taste is far tighter than 'real' cuts and hence fast food and snacks are where they excel.

As for Red Rooster, I don't know how either, the only store I've been to as of late was only out of convenience. I must say their branding never made much of an impression.

Like any fast food the quality varies wildly based on when you go and to which store you end up at. RR can be good or complete arse.

I can't stand that they reheat chicken in the rolls, to me it makes the chicken smell/taste awful. I've even gone as far as to ask for fresh chicken (which they happily obliged to do) or have it cold (which they won't do).

Otherwise, I like their $4 1/4's with the chance of seasoning when you order a wing.

I grab the classic roast from time to time if I'm in a hurry. Easily not the worst thing I could have for lunch (or the best either).
My local one seems to do an alright trade.
