    Hi there,

This is something that has had me thinking quite a lot recently.

    Monitor size.

Now I know there are a few out there with two or more monitors, however they still largely have one 'main' monitor. What I want to know is, what is the average preferred size of todays modern LCD displays?

In 2004 I purchased a Ben Q 17 Inch LCD for I think 600+ something gold coins from a now largely dead site called secret net. This served me well for many years until one day it randomly started showing the 'volume' icon on the screen without me pressing it. I tried many things and searched the internet far and wide for an answer, alas I found none.
This icon popping up randomly was actually amazingly annoying, so I did this:

And it was good. It worked for a few months but like an annoyingly persistent rash it returned. One night after too many drinks earlier on and problems with a now long forgotten g/f I ended up properly wrecking this screen. With a screwdriver. Through it.

These days I kick along with a cheap "Viewsonic" 19 Inch widescreen I was given for helping someone move their files from a PC to a laptop (which is where the screen came from). It's dull light wise but it does the job and watching movies on it is ok.

Recently I had the misfortune of having to reformat an iMac for a friend, and it sat on my desk next to my viewsonic screen. The iMac is a 21.5 inch. Despite having to deal with OSX, the screen was amazing.
Brighter than the sun, although, probably not. But still it was amazingly bright compared to my crappy viewsonic.
I really liked the brightness of the newer iMac screen, but it was startling how much larger it (21.5) seemed compared to my monitor. It almost seemed too large, however I can see in a day to day environment I would quickly get used to the larger size. We watch a lot of movies/tv on my bed with my screen on the other side of the room, and the iMac seemed a perfect size.

What I really want to know is, what is everyone else using? I personally don't think I can go much larger than a 22inch screen, but I know some people use larger screens. Vote above but explain why you settled on what you did below. Also if after buying it you were not happy, and would have preferred smaller/larger screen/resolution, comment on that too.
If I didn't get your exact size right vote for the one closest and post the real size below.

I've not decided yet on what I want to get but it's amazing just how cheap large LCD monitors are today.

    Dell 2408 WFP.

Mainly bought for coz it was the best and largest monitor that would fit on my desk.

Fairly happy with it, dont think i'd ever use all the ports on it.

Dell 2711U + big desk = win. I used to have a 22 + my lappy on a small desk and although it was cramped i thought it would be all i needed - wrong lol <3 my new monitor.

I'd never get them all in Hexa, also it doesn't allow you to write "penis" in the poll options. Sorry.

i run 3 dell E2310H, why? because i picked them up cheap second hand for $50 each.
I dont think i could ever go single screen again even if it was a bigger size,
ive played around with the U2711 before and even thought its huge, it can't run 3 full screen apps at the same time and not feel squashed together

21, 37 and 60 arent in the list.
maybe you should do 'ranges' next time, or think of a decent poll before putting one up :)

    32" + 3x19"

32" is old and only 720p, so i want to change it over for a high rez 16:10 27" to use as my main monitor. 32" in a fraction big for <1m distance, i think 27" should hit the spot perfectly

1x22" 1x24" 1x22" on my desktop. Bought the two 22"ers first, then was planning to replace one of them with a 24". Nobody wanted to buy the 24", and I had a second graphics card lying around not doing much.

24 inch seems to be standard now. And for 200 bucks, I can see why.
