Cheers boys! It's all good. I've actually gone out and purchased one of those ex call centre machines. Its a Lennovo thinkcentre something from Circa 2015, has a Intel 4th Gen 4650 (or something) 4 core cpu with 8g ram.
I chucked in my old Samsung 250gb and everything loaded back up. Windows 10 and all. And to be honest, it runs fairly well for what i do with it (browsing, downloading and basic grafix design work)..

So i kind of have a computer again :)

    Hello :)

Edit for mobile users who can't see sig:

    2500k @ 4.8ghz w/ Ultra120 Extreme
    Gskill Ripjaws 16GB @ 2133mhz
    XFX GTX1070
    Samsung SSDs
    Antec P182b
    Razer Deathadder Elite
    Samsung SA950 27" 120hz
    LG 4K 27" 60hz

For occasional BF1 and office use it rips it up. I get 80-120fps on almost Ultra settings 1080p. All four cores pinned to 100.00% usage with the 1070 sitting at 60% usage. Putting it to Ultra settings lifts to 80-90% usage but drops the FPS a bit. Decent CPU bottleneck.

    Sandy for life

Still using my stock i7-3770 with 16GB Ram and a GTX1060. All on an ASRock z77 Extreme 4. Recently swapped the stock intel fan cooler for an all in one magical water cooler for summer.

Plays everything I use it for at 1080p and some 1440p.

Upgrades calling for Cyberpunk 2077 though.....

EDIT: Didn't answer the OP's question! Main rig since Dec 2012. Only upgraded the GPU. Never had a rig last this long before!

Desktop is x299 Evga Dark with a gimped pcie-lane 7640x ... goes alright
It can be good low power if I set that way for 24/7 solar use ... OR a ball tearer 5.7ghz bencher ... that requires alot of cooling :Paranoid:

Nothing important on it, dell data protection on the drive, history wiped regularly etc. Used by family OS with VPN when needed.

bought a cheapo coolermaster AIO 240mm cooler for my 3770k and moved it to a be quiet 801 case. discovered there's a switch to the second bios on my gigabyte z77 board which could never retain settings. now have it at 4.5ghz :)

The case - it looks great, but man... sharp edges everywhere, really poor cable management... will have to get rid of my spinners and stick an nvme card in there :)

My 5820k rig died a watery death due to a pump block failing on an AIO. Still got the kids' 3770k/GTX760 rig, but I've gone to a 3700X system... under air.
