I plugged em in, but now trying to unplug one and it won't budge. Tried pressing down on the lever similar to the one you find on SATA connectors but it won't budge. Tried pressing down the lever and another one adjacent to it, also nothing. Drives work, so they are connected properly but I need to unplug mini SAS 4i cable header as I am gonna use a different length cable. Controller is Areca 1880x

I got one out without braking anything, but gave up on the other. Unbelievably poor design for this latch. I understand it's made to lock on firmly so there is never a loose connection, but they could have put more thought into into. My controller is in a somewhat cramped place and taking these cables out is extremely strenuous.

I got an email from "Bazz Bazzers" who wanted me to add his reply to this thread, so here we go:

I just had this problem in 2018. I used a tiny flathead electronics screwdriver (5/64 inch, others should be fine) pressed gently in the center of the silver lever between cable connector body and metal housing on the card, then pressed in flathead slowly a bit toward the connector, then pried up very slightly while pulling on the connector body. Success three times in a row!

I did this recently on an SAS9211-8i in my own PC, a screwdriver in the exact position described here worked a treat. Sometimes the clearance on the metal shrouding of the connector is so tight that you just can't press the tab on the connector down enough to release the locking mechanism.
