    Hi All,

I know this is a long shot, but is anyone aware of how to extract the license key from Pervasive SQL 2000?

As I understand it the license would normally ship on a floppy disk but as the software is like ten years old, the disk in question has developed legs!

Many thanks for any ideas even if it is a long shot... :)

Why do you need a 2000 license? You can create/host 2000 databases in 2005...

The customer uses a third party piece of software which requires Pervasive 2000. Due to server load everything is being moved to another box however I'm unable to get my hands on these licenses.

Elyzion I know nothing about Pervasive and how it all works... Are you suggesting this application might work under a 2005 version? If so, what the license situation with that if you know?

    Thanks in advance!

I've never heard of Pervasive SQL so im not sure what it is.

I figured that it was just a database you needed, SQL Server 2005 will host a 2000 database, and you can create 2000 compatible database in 2005.

If Pervasive does not integrate with the database and simply connects to the database for what ever reason it needs to, then i dont see why it wouldn't work.

I've spoken wth Pervasive and they are prepared to tell me what the license key is... For a fee!

I can't seem to find any way to extract the existing license however I can find countless keygens which would provide me with unlimited licenses...

    Crazy! :Pirate:

I have a new copy of Btrieve floating around here somewhere  This was before they named it Pervasive.

A popular program using Pervasive as the backend... at a guess I would say Tracker / Maximizer.

    Pervasive is still around?

I work for a company that writes BI software, and I know we have some legacy code for connecting to Pervasive, but I can't say I know of ANY customers that are still using it!

Sorry, can't help you with key extraction. Let me guess: Pervasive will give you the key only if you pay your maintenance contract?

    Some thoughts be kind... ;)

Please explain what exactly are you trying to achieve?

You wish to fresh install DB onto another machine?

    Replicate the current setup?

www.open-audit.org run this it will tell you whats in the registry, might hold some clues... however if you have no install disk how do you intend to install the software or is it just the lisence disk?

Also, you'll only be lisenced to run 1 instance.
