Seriously. How can I prevent this stupid app from trying to install? I've never had the app, I got an update 2 weeks ago on the phone, and ever since, every day I get this shit popup asking me to install. I click cancel, then 2 hours later it asks me again.
what so you can have a different photos app? This is just Googles Photos app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos&hl=en If you disabled it it might stop updating?
How to disable it. I don't have it installed. It doesn't come with Samsung Note 4. It's being forced on me for no reason.
the photo app is very good, i was a dropbox/box user but have switched over also, you can just install it and then disable it
Which phone? I thought just about every Android phone comes with it. Really? It does come with my Australian (SM-N910G) and international Exynos Note 4; it's in both KitKat and Lollipop firmwares. Malware? Introduced by an update?
I got the Note 4 just after it came out. It had Gallery, never a Photo App. I don't know where it came from, but I had "install from unknown source" enabled (i didn't even know) which is the likely cause. Something was trying to install apps that appear as legit apps when they aren't. After doing a factory reset, install nothing, and do a full update, I have the Photos app (the real one) and disabled it. I'm moving back to Windows Phone when Lumia 950XL comes out. Android is bar none the worst OS I've ever used. 2 phone I've had, and they are all slow laggy pieces of shit. And now there's malware.
Just look @ the permissions looks dodgy as. draw over other apps - you only want that for very specific reasons and there's no reason for Photos to need it.
i bet your device came with G+ preinstalled (as do most android devices). google recently removed the photos component from G+ into its own service called photos. this app is part of that service. just install it and be done with it.
