It's always a con. I've sat there before and hit the buy button the very second it comes on sale, but you get to the checkout procedure and it says you've missed out - no more stock.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made a custom error message where it says; "the computer says Nooo ... " just to piss you off further.

Whats the real world power consumption like on these? I'm finding my N36l is getting a bit long in the tooth, and it doesnt have the processing power to run my dvblink server with 3x dual usb tv tuners. So i need more grunt, but not too much power consumption.

The celeron G8 microserver should be able to run that just fine. But I would need to upgrade the cpu to xeon if i wanted to run any other vms etc. which I do want to do.

So looking at xeon options, I'm thinking a used proliant m350 G6 would be a cheaper option than upgrading a G8 micro. The ml350 runs about 90W idle, which is a concern. So if anyone has power consumption for preferably a xeon G8 micro under various conditions that would help me decide once and for all.

Just ordered another to add to the collection. Will now have N36L, N40L, Gen8 G1610T x2.

I want to V2P my WHS2011 so will fresh install on the new one and migrate the data across. Then find a use for the spare, might play VM's on it.

My ShoppingExpress Gen8 1610T was just delivered. Nice and quick! :)

If you're looking for iLO Advanced licenses there are a couple of ebay sellers that will email you the codes so you don't have to pay postage. I messaged them and they said to "Make an Offer" so they could leave off shipping. I'm just going the 1yr support as AFAIK the iLO Advanced license doesn't expire, just the support.

    $18.50 USD, 1yr TS&U - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131318432206
    $24 USD, 3yr TS&U - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110897570685

That's weird ... when did you order? I live in metro Sydney and ordered on 28/06/15 at 9:10pm and still haven't received a tracking number :(

Also, I'm not sure if this works, but I was also thinking of installing an SSD and wondering if this would work? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SATA-15-...47?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item540f6001e7

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like we need the female version sata :(

    Just an update...

The $24USD seller replied and told me to "Make an Offer" of $22 USD to receive via email.

I decided to go the cheaper option so I ordered two keys from the $18.50 USD seller and received them both within a day. Both keys worked fine.

Anybody got the 2gb factory ram that they want to get rid of?
    Could use an extra stick.
