I'm kinda hoping that's the price it'll be, that way I can justify the cost of my Hero
Good news that it's finaly being released here!!
Bad news that Vodafone won't be the carrier
I've never been a fan of optus and I have no idea about their plans/contracts they offer etc...
Can anyone confirm that optus sub-carriers will be selling the HERO?
Secondly, Virgin... They're one of the sub-optus companies right?
Yes, Virgin are an Optus carrier.
Rumours state that only 1 carrier will hold the Hero. Still no pricing, and a new "release" date set of next Wednesday (APC)
LONG AWAITED NEWS..
IM NOT TOO HAPPY THOUGH
Because I would rather have a monthly commitment (or none) than pay outright!
BUT ITS GOOD TO SEE IT HERE!
Seems I made the right choice by getting Magic from 3 and put Hero UI on it...
what do you recon the chance of getting a discount off RRP is, will harvey budge being the only retailer?
Anyone work at harveys and want to offer a discount to an ocau member?
Looks like I'll be having myself a Hero and a Vodafone SIM in the new year.
Woohoo! But $799?! Jesus!
I've held off for MONTHS on getting a new phone waiting for this or something similar to be available on a $0 plan like every other friggen phone that gets released in AU, and now this.... arrghhh... This really shits me!
If I don't hear or read any contradicting news in relation to this by the weekend, I'm off to get the dreaded i-crap!
i take it everyone missed the bit where it mentioned this is just the initial release? mobile carriers may still pick up the phones, and they should be available in other stores at some stage. also when does ANY product ACTUALLY sell for the RRP?
$800 for the Hero. Thanks for justifying my $600 import HTC
I noticed the bit where it mentioned that this is the initial release and that they are still in discussions with carriers etc... but I guess I just got me hopes up when I noticed the AU release and I assumed that they finaly made a deal with a carrier. I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG AND I'M OVER IT, lol...
I'm usually the kinda person that walks past a shop and does 'impulse' buys so to wait as long as I have is killing me
At this rate, the HD2 will be in stores before the Hero
Hmmm..... $799 and an unknown release date, unknown carrier.
Still think its a better deal to import. UK, Taiwan, HK will be around $550
Yeah, thinking the same. Save the $200 and if I break it, then the $200 I use to fix it I would have spent anyways..
Random question - What happens when you get an SMS? Does it pop up a window with the message, or just a notification?
1 year worldwide warranty. Doesn't matter where you bought it, if you break it here, you can get it fixed here.
:O I wasn't really interested until I read this!
Of course you can get it fixed here now that they are offering it on the local market. Even when they were not selling here, you only had to return it to a HTC approved service centre (i think someone mentioned there was one in HK) to get warranty claims filled. Same story with the Leo now if you buy one (not sold here yet)
Handy hint: Don't put Clear Coat on your Hero. Mine's starting to peel after only 2 months use. Use a proper case.
That is all.
Ok so I haven't gone out to get the i-phone YET... I know that no one's certain on when we'll see a release with one of au's carriers but.... anyone like to take a guess at how long it'll be?
Also, is it likely that we'll see the au release of the HD2 anytime soon? I'm so close to biting the bullet and getting the i-phone it's scary. I need someone to talk some sense into me or give me re-assurance etc... lol
I've emailed HTC again begging for info but I'm not expecting an enlightening response
