Right, I have been researching this for a little while now and here is my proposed setup:

    Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI
    AMD A8-6600K
    Kingston 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX
    Seagate ST1000DX001 DESKTOP SSHD (OS)
    2 x Seagate ST3000VN000 NAS HD 3TB (RAID1 for NAS/MEDIA)
Case: either old mATX silverstone or Bitfenix prodigy ITX case
PSU: old corsair hx680 or Seasonic SS-300SFD SFX if going for ITX case
    Undecided on bluray drive
TUNERS: 2 x winfast usb duals?

Unsure on what remote to use yet? logitech ones seem too expensive

So it's going to be a HTPC/NAS/CCTV server and maybe some couch gaming with x360 controller. Running win7+MCE+XBMC. Using iSpy for CCTV with 720p wireless cameras. an XBMC iSpy plugin would be nice but can only see one for Mediaportal.

MCE service for ServerWMC to act as a tv backend for XBMC front end. I need to use MCE for my IceTV subscription guide and recordings. I have not found a suitable replacement for IceTV and they only support MCE for interactive recordings. Does anybody have any other suggestions?

It will also host a mysql server for XBMC so I can setup a Pi client in the bedroom for live tv, recordings/tv/movies etc.

Usual plugins for XBMC, au-catchup, youtube etc. Planning to setup pseudo tv live as well.

Planning a 802.11ac network as cannot run cat5 as limited access, I think it will be sufficient I dont plan on having 25gb bluray dumps, just x264/xvid SD and 720p content.

So....give me your opinions. I have zero experience with XBMC and Pi's so any tips would be appreciated.

Also are there any 802.11ac USB adapters compatible with the Pi yet? Should I be looking at an ODROID-U3 instead of a Pi?
