hey guys, having a small LAN at my place tomorrow, and I wanted to do some OC to show my friends just how fun it can be.

basicly looking to do a slushbox to beat the shit out of an old E8x00 until it bursts. Maybe do some 3D with my 260 216, 9800GT, GTX460 1Gb or one of old but gold chips to burn.
PS. If it survives, might make it my server CPU.

would salted ice water count? I'll get a screeny of my CPU idling just below zero... that is my goal for tomorrow if nothing else

 

Do it man, it's great fun. One of my first 'real' overclocking ventures was when I dumped my rad in a bucket of ice and booted in at -5c on a X3360 (Q9550 equivalent), of course temps didn't stay there when I pumped 1.65v through it, but good fun all the same.

 

i know i shouldn't mention... it's a tad pricey and i came across it accidentally but it gave me a chuckle. msy is listing high binned psc 2x2gb 2500mhz 9-11-9 @ 1.65v. link

buy a cheap GTX275, its non-ref and therefor voltage locked.

In the v1 hwbot thread there were a few guides posted specificly for giga 275s. I can't say 100% but I was sure 275 didn't come with native sw voltage control like the 280s did.

 

my TR2S+ showed up today Will be playing with it when i finish uni soon and have all assignments and exams out of the way and done.

Hey guys.. I was wondering why 3dmark validation is not required for results on HWBOT?

I look at a lot of results above mine, and I look at the hardware and the clocks, then I look at the individual scores.. all lower than my submission, however magically +300 points more.

Example?

My score VS this.

Can anyone explain how he got an extra 300 points somehow? His CPU is clocked lower, his GPU is clocked lower, his graphics score is much higher. I don't get it...

 

First guess without looking too much into it, they disabled tesselation in ccc

 

It would make sense, although if they had a validation link, it would show this.
A little hard to compare how I'm doing with a lot of results like this.
