You need a lot of voltage to get high fsb - nb cooling definitely helps to max things out for sure

    Bugger I scored one, @ $4.75

So higher NB on 775 needs cooling, would that put me in extreme league ?

Max FSB is easy to test mate lower the cpu multi so your not really stressing the cpu and push up your fsb keep and eye on your ram speed and keep it low to if only testing fsb. Keeping your northbridge cool helps also especially on x48 chipset boards like the rampage extreme. Have a strong fan on the NB with do and if you want every last once of fsb then some guys used to mount nb pots and run dice or ln. Few pellets of dice on the stock NB heatsink will also do the trick just don't forget to insulate.

Knowing your max fsb helps a lot with the lower end chips like E6600 C2D with low multi's.

On a dfi P45 t2rs 1.4075 was enough for 630 fsb all done on air with an E8500

ye i was using a E2140 in the rookie oc comp doing the max overclock, and managed 420 fsb with 1.45V, but upping to 1.55-1.6 didnt make a difference. Multi was on highest and ram (1600 mhz ddr3, was always set to below 1600 for stability)

Will give it another crack, the board EP45T-UD3P only cost me $5, so more then happy to run insane volts through it!

Drop your multi back and push the fsb some more start nb at 1.4 more if it actually helps. No point adding volts if all it does is get the nb hotter and run a fan on the nb. FSB is also affected by cpu as well probably better off finding a cheap e8400 if you want push the fsb and find boards max. You will likely find the limit of the chip before the board with a e2140

If we look at doing a comp, do most guys still have a haswell setup?

Nope no Haswell. Didn't have the funds for both at the time..... now do due to my carport coming in cheaper than expected :upset:.

If I am going to be buying anything else it will be Skylake i3 and maybe a ITX board... was thinking Gigabyte but not seeing any modded bios for BLCK clocking like others. :Paranoid:

Happy to buy a GPU and mod it. Why not make it physics score for modded cheap gpu's? Although we have done the two cheapest ones so far. AMD R7 240 is sort of reasonable....:Paranoid:

Or what about something silly like AMD A4-6300 or A4-7300 and ITX board.... bit expensive and can the FM2+ boards run FM2? Would prefer to buy something of actual use.

Can we please not have more Pentiums, nor slideshow GPU's?

Still have one Haswell chip left. Only Pentium left is really hurting from last comp I think. Going to be hard with everyone in limbo between Haswell and Skylake.

I3 6100? Good way to intro everyone to Skylake.

iGPU round, something CPU based to work on the unlocked bclk and XTU?

Would only need a cheap board, everyone will need DDR4? Just throwing it out there.

Screw you and your iGPU's. After CC that's the last thing I want to think about.
