Come on push it. I dont care for stability.

The one I have will do 5.3Ghz on water. Can almost boot 5.5Ghz, but need more V's and colder

Plus there is a multi test you do to find max multi useable. Pretty much set 1.6v and see the highest multi to get to win options menu, you dont need to boot into win. After that it is just a matter of cooling and volts

If only I could afford one... D: All the other stuff I buy is cheap compared to $2k+ on a CPU!

Well I found an awesome bios for the Gigabyte R9 290, sapphire vaper-x tri-x OC, which clocks @ 1030/1400, instead of 1040/1250. VGPU is more stable with less fluctuation, clocks to 1200MHz with +131 - +138mV with no artifacts, which was +150mV before but unstable. Got VRAM to 1533MHz with 1.485V and 1.2V rail. Super happy and just added water-block to CPU and clocked 4690K to 4900MHz @ 1.417V. Oldschool setup, Silverprop GPU block from about 10 years ago and DangerDen s939 CPU block I had for X2 3800+ AMD CPU. 2x 240 radiators, new EK PE and 10 year old Black Ice Extreme. Now I can play WOW happily lol :D

Just to brag a lot, the DangerDen and Silverprop water-blocks and AMD X2 3800+ got me the 3dMark06 world record for the ATI X800 XT PE on the Futuremark ORB before HWBot was created (that was where it was at in those days). The X800 XT Platinum Edition had four VMods and I think the motherboard had the VMem mod on it too. Couldn't do much without voltmodding back then as the max volts were very limited for every microprocessor and memory chips you could overclock. The golden days of clocking LOL! Pretty much the only time AMD beat Intel was when the X2's came out. Pentium D dual cores couldn't keep up at all :)

Yeh looks like for the march madness the best bet is a Kaby CPU with the Z170 SOC Force board, cant use LN2 version, and cant use the Z270 SOC Gaming, since it isn't released.

Hey guys, what are 580s generally worth these days?

Got an offer for one of $50, Gigabyte model but they can't tell me anything other than that....

So... what are people's thoughts on Ryzen in terms of extreme OCing?

Worth it? Not worth it? Stick to Intel?

I remember them saying XFR can actually work with 'extreme' cooling methods so it'd be fun to see someone test that.

It's 100Mhz over the boost freq, that's all.

for Extreme it seems like a nice chip tbh, outdoes all the BD-E 8 cores for multi-thread.

Not sure how many in here will be going AMD though....

No one on this side of the fence has run Zen cold yet although I want to and because it's based on a low power process it doesn't clock that well as in around 5.2ghz with full pot ln2

If you can only order through that store, I'd ask them to order in what you want from Gskill.

I might have to do that tbh.

I have store credit with them and I need to use it up and since I need new memory I figure this is a good opportunity for it.
