when are you going to give up your day job and just go into case development? surely you'd kill it, send some of these designs off to the big case makers

what kind of mesh are you using? looks like fabric, but up close looks like punched metal of somesort

Cheers fureien  appols for the late reply. The mesh is repurposed case and speaker grills. I was lucky enuf to have an old NZXT phantom case i could tear down.

The mesh is cut down and reshaped

Cheers for the spur on mic, it's just what was needed

It's not much but it's some thing

Changing up the shape and design a little to maximise window size ...its a double layer with overlay to allow the window to sit in snug

The section that will attach to the front of the vent will be a separate piece and will be painted black.

Flipping the panel over shows how the vents will sit flash against the window

    Merry Xmas all :)

A qik update for the hols.

The orig plan was to hard glue the vents to the inside of the vent.... but this was going to make painting and future changes/upgrades a pain.

So i decided to remake a set for the 3rd time...... this time in a "Cartridge" form. That way i can just paint and socket them into place. This would also make the process of clear and tinted window changes easy too.

The whole assembly is strong enuf to just be slotted into place press fitting against the inside of the vent and the window and the be secured.

The excess over hang will get trimmed but i'm still not 100% if i want them to angle in / or out \

The shortest one you see being the reference.

Removing the paper of the test clear panel im still deciding if i should cut a hole to make them a vented or just leave them as dummy vents.

A quick ruff trim of the backs for a look.

Got a few extra days off for Xmas :D So decided to throw these into the mix

Some themed speakers to match the case mod. (Hyper Speakers?)

I'm no sound engineer but i know the sound i like ... and that's loud and deep :) Not much for treble a touch of mids and lotsa boom boom.

That's a hard thing to get on a desktop with out having to use a sub.... and i'm not keen to do that.... just yet.

Ive been playing around with the Swan BS3 Drivers for a while now and really like them, A 30 Watt Full range that work pretty well without the need for X-Over work.

SO Loud is not prob since i'll run 2 x Swan drivers in each cab but getting them to go deep would be a bit of trial and error.

As cool as the clear looks these wont stay that way i have plans for these so maybe another clear set for the wifey :)

Anyways after a couple of fails and ruff mock ups i ended up with this.

Allowing the Speaker to sit back like this puts the drivers out of phase. So a Custom stand will be used.

I'll prolly end up making a few types of stands :)

The texta mark is where the port will sit.....

The Ports is hard glued in and the Drivers added.

Being narrow i really have to place them just right...but after a lotta listening and tweaking they are loud and they really do go deep :D

I decided to keep the first one as the tuning speakers and get to making another 2. This will help down the track and get me half way to having a set made for the missus :)

Magnets are used to attach the front panels

The stands are hefty , they have to be... these things are heavy !

Locating lugs are added so the speakers dont slide off

For now these are pretty much done, I'll leave all the filling primer and pint work till i get have the new side panels ready :)

The speakers while not painted yet are sounding amazing and really handle some volume and put out some really nice deep bass. I recently brought the Topping MX3 Dac/Amp/Headphone Amp. And while it's a great AIO Desktop solution it lacks a the solid punch these speakers need. The headphone stage dosn't quiet stack up to my Schiit Modi / Magni Combo.

    So.......

    Hyper Amp ! ......
    Well Amp/Dac :)

I always loved the look of the Peechtree Audio gear so went with that style with a little Hyper-ness thrown in.

The victims being a 2020A+ amp and a Muse Dac chosen for the power and the sound and seem to combine pretty well.

The first thing i'll do is chuck the plastic knobs for some sexier ones

The new housing is pretty simple with a slight angle to match the case mod and speakers.

There's a fair bit of work to do inside still and a active fan and back panel will round it out.

A single 12V / 6 amp psu will supply more than enuf grunt for both amp and dac.

Some gap filling sanding and primer work.......

And some high fill... then left to sit for a week before a final wet sand and paint with the speakers and side panels
