I love the look on staff faces when my son and I go game hunting at JB/EB/wherever, they treat him like some clueless kid, and he schools them on the complete and detailed history of game franchises from 25 years before he was born. Priceless.

At least the local retro games shop owner knows what he's in for now.

Actually they're active cables, so do have a direction in this case... nonetheless a massive rip off with angels from heaven creating every strand by hand.

Maybe you mean this $1.5M job? o_O

Seriously though... I think JB stock these don't they?

... and that was 8 years ago. Nordost should get a mention too... :D

My kettle runs off a $5000 chord...

In fairness there are plenty of speaker cables that claim directionality... even people saying they can hear the difference when they swap it around. Strangely it always sounds better the "right" way around... which has nothing to do with expectation bias. There is some crazy shit out there...

eh. while i wouldn't buy a directional HDMI cable...I have top of the range Wireworld interconnects between my amp and preamp, and I would happily put up my house vs anyone's $10k cash that i could double-blind pick them over generic cables, in my room with my system, 10 times out of 10.

Sounds like a cheap house mate... maybe too much betting today on the cup? :leet: A 50/50 bet... may as well flip a coin.

The world's full of religious folk that'd bet everything they own that they're going to their own personal definition of heaven, 10 times out of 10. Talk is cheap when you never, ever, ever, have to prove it. A lot cheaper than $4-figure audio cables, that's for sure.

directional HDMI is a real thing. for long runs, included amplifiers won't work so great on the wrong end of the long connection.

    pics of your house?

Anything you buy from the Northern hemisphere is impaired if you use it in Australia. You need to specially order the reverse version to really see the benefits here.

    heh

i worked at Dick Smith whilst at uni, back in the days when they actually sold electronics (resistors, caps, pots etc. ah, the PRZ stocktake days!)

i learnt a fuck tonne about electronics and technology

toward the end of my stint there, it was turning into a JB Hi-Fi wannabe (well the Powerhouses already were), very glad i got out when i did

I'm envious of the young folk who work at Jaycar sometimes. Wish I'd had that as a job in my youth, rather than the mindless shitkicker jobs I actually had.
