I knocked the tray out of a fairly new CDrom drive I had (when they cost $100 or so) I put it back on though.. ;)

*presses the eject button, grabs the tray and holds it so it doesn't close, drops a cd in, lets the tray go, and it closes by itself*

    :D

ohh, and you'll need an exact match... its possible that the same brand CDrom drive uses the same mechanism though :) (one of the models anywya)

You found the hole in the middle of the tray too enticing?

I've opened a few up in the past.....and as long as you get a reasonably newish one I reckon you will be ok. Don't quote me on that though! I reckon the trays from newer models will all be the same.

I have here the 106D and the 108D and the trays are exactly the same, I've just checked. I'm guessing the internals for movement of the trays would be the same also.

You could always email the manufacturers, ask them about which ones are compatible, hope for a reply and then buy an older model.

EDIT: Or just araldite the tray back together.

I really want to know how you managed to break it in the first place (sorry I'm curious :))

But yeah why can't you stick the tray back together?

I have used araldite to repair one for a customer before
Just use it sparingly and it will be fine...

all the :o :o make me think there was some kind of sexual act involved in the act of breaking this dvd tray, super glue  anything that sticks plastic back together will do and just try keep the original shape of the tray
