i5 670 & ASUS P7P55D-DELUXE Motherboard 2D review

    I just recieved the ASUS P7P55D-DELUXE board, it doesn't sport the features of the P7P55D-E such as SATA 3 and 6gb/s transfer
    but for mid range board it perfomed great. This board definatly has the overclocker in mind i was easily reaching 250 bclock
    and managed to push the ram frequency to 2200mhz at 8-8-8-24 out of my Corsair Dominator 2000mhz c8 DDR3 2x4 GB Kit
    ( cpu-z did not read cas latency correct ).

    Conclusion:

    This board is packed with features that will easily accomodate the enthusiast gamer with great overclockability
    and stability while keeping at a budget, supporting the latest i5 and i7 processors ( LGA 1156 ) and the capabilty
    of running ram up to 2200 mhz. While this is not the best board for extreme overclocking i would be giving
    this board a lot of consideration for a gaming rig.

    great testing

    did you have any trouble getting the ram over 1800mhz? im running an i5 650 and P7P55D. just wondering if maybe real high bclk and lower mem ratio will allow higher ram clocks than lower bclk.
    im using bios 1207 too. i guess it might be the same as deluxe version. anyway im stuck at 1800mhz on adata 2000x (2000mhz)

    Try a setting the qpi to lowest available frequency 3200 you should get it no problems

    I am currently using the P7P55D "E" version (with SATA 3 and USB 3 support - for what it is worth) , and I can confirm the P7P55 series is really great for overclocking. I have a somehow mediocre watercooled i7 870 running with at 2.92@4.32 GHz. The same chip would not make it stable above 4.0 GHz with Intel's Kingsberg P55 board.

    didnt work, but apart from my memory, it is a great board for overclocking. just got it to 220 bclk. not sure how that rates compared to the others. maybe i can get it higher

    you may also need to raise you imc volts for the ram to go higher try 1.35-1.4v.

    i tried up to 1.4 imc but no go. im thinking its an early bios issue with the 650. no results on hwbot with p55 and i5 650 have ram over 1850. the only results with i5 650 and 2000mhz+ is on an h55, compared to the p55 and 670 which many have 2000mhz+.

    I would defininatly recommend updating your bios to latest version using EZ-Flash and your thumb drive, use D.O.C.P and set your ram to 2000mhz
    leave timings on auto and set your IMC to 1.35 with your qpi on lowest setting.
    See how that works mate :)

    still no luck. im sure it must be an early bios issue. only the latest P7P55D bios has secondary ram timings. before that you only have 5 or 6 timings to change. im trying to figure out if it is only an issue with an i5 650. the latest bios was released 2009/12/14. before that there was a new one every week or two. so they are way overdue :confused:

    Ill see what i can find out for you regarding your board i dont think it should have anything to do with your cpu, unless it has a really bad IMC.
