They looked at me odd in the shop when I asked for 2x6gb kits :), I find I can max 8GB out pretty quick on 2 diff systems here, so I was happy to be able to move upto 12 and keep the rig for gaming as well.

So far loving the i7, now my AMD system can be transfered to become the server.

    Cheers.

The SSD was $288, wasn't going to get one just a spur of the moment thing when I saw them sitting there, so I let the wallet burn just a little bit more :)

Got my system build last night and all I can say is WOW... This thing is mighty fast.

    Case: Coolermaster ATC840
    CPU: Intel Core i7 965 Extreme 3.2Ghz
CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler
    Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe
PSU: PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W PSU
    Memory: Corsair Tri Channel 6GB 1600Mhz DDR3. (TR3X6G1600C9)
Hard Drive Primary: Intel X25-M, 80GB SSD Drive
Secondary Drive: 2 X WD 300GB Velociraptors (Had this from prior system)
Raid Card: 3Ware 9650SE Raid Card
Video Card: Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX
    OS: Vista 64 Bit

I am not a gamer but I use a lot of Video encoding and multimedia applications and tons of multi tasking and this rig does it so easy.

Currently I got this OCed at 4.1Ghz and this Intel SSD simply flies. SO overall quite happy with this need for speed :)

P.S: I got the majority of this gear from the U.S.

Picked up the rest of my i7 setup today, but now one of my VGA cards that's been sitting in a static bag for a week is dead??

Anyway i'll chuck up a pic soon.

Currently testing it to make sure its not DOA with stock cooler and 4MB PCI VGA card

hey man so far its pretty good, have clocked the 920 to 3.4 without having to change any of the settings in bios accept for the bclck so its pretty easy. But im guessing all the gigabyte x58's will be just as easy to use.

i couldent find a real difference between the 3 gigabyte boards so if you wanna save money just get the ds4 or the ud5.

anyway, i like it so far :)

Apart from a few SSD issues (now sorted), the system is awesome - just love it compared to the Q6600 box & the Phenom 9950BE systems I have here.
Post some benchies soon enough, just waiting for my free 1366 clip from noctua.

    goodness gracious. God damn.
Look at all these sex-C I7 set ups.
Not bad at all. These systems are so future proof.
Does anyone think there will ever be another larger socket intel monteser in the future.
These cpu's are larger than life:Paranoid:
    Look in my sig.
    LOL 46oomhz i7 920.. My god.

there are differences, like the VRM for the extreme is a step up, would it really matter, probly not. UD5 is sweat spot for me.

    Stock Cooler GONE!!!

Got the Ultra 120 Extreme installed on Saturday..

    Temps dropped drastically.

Now at stock @ ~32C Idle and ~49C Load.

    Will have pics up later..

Had to mod my own fan clips for the Yate Loon 120 and the Ultra 120. The existing fan clips are for a system fan that does not have solid edges.

Bailing Wire FTW!! Can't even see the mounting..
